I own a 1990 Honda civic lx. About 2 months ago it started spitting and sputtering like it had water in the gas, so I put a bottle of heet in it to remove the water and then it just wouldn't start at all after that. I changed out the fuel injectors first and that didn't work, then I found out that it wasn't getting fire, so I changed the distributor. I was turning it over and my father took out #4 spark plug and grounded it to the engine and it cranked. It ran just fine for about 300 miles, and then did it again. Now the fuel pump is not kicking on along with it not getting fire. I dropped the tank and took out the fuel pump to see it if was faulty and it isn't. I've changed the coil, distributor, spark plugs and wires, main power relay under the dash, all fuses... I'm stumped. Is there something I've missed?

Does the Check Engine Light come on and go off in two seconds, when the ignition switch is turned to ON (Position II)? If not, the ECM may be bad; therefore, perform the K-Test:

The K-Test: Remove the MAP Sensor connector and turn the ignition switch to ON (Position II). Using a multimeter, check for 5 volts going between the MAP Sensor connector's reference wire (+) and ground. As you look at the connector, this is the socket on the right. Really press the black test lead into a cleaned main ECM ground on the thermostat housing. If the voltage is low, it's probably indicating ECM failure. Most failed ECMs will record a fraction of a volt. To me, the K-Test is simple, elegant, and accurate.
