    Honda civic
I have a 1991 Honda civic Dx 5sp manual transm. And one day I pulled up to an intersection and the car just died. All the lights were on but I had no notifications that it would happen(check engine light didn't come on) me and my friend had to push it to the side of the road, we tried jump starting, push starting nothing works. We also took the distributor off but it looked fine. I try to turn the key over and it cranks but the car won't fire up. Could it be the fuel pump or anything in that area? Someone please help I don't know what else to do!

. When you turn the ignition switch to ON (Position II), does the Check Engine Light come on and go off after 2 seconds?

. During this 2 second interval, can you hear the fuel pump in the gas tank run?

My fiancé had an old 94' Civic that did the same thing, Civics are known to have made distributer housings, what happened is the back bolt on the housing broke causing a gap in the housing allowing air/water into the plugs, it took me 2-3 days to notice that that back bolt broke since it was small and out of the way! Check that first, dry out your distributor and check it if it doesn't start then it's not the problem.

Also like the other guy said check the fuel-pump. Have someone stand by the fuel-door while you turn your key on, they shouls hear the pump )briefly) if not then BINGO!

Sounds like you have a fuel problem, since you cannot hear the fuel pump run when the ignition switch is turned to ON. Follow the steps in the link below, in order to precisely identify what's wrong:

Wondering if you have to take the half shaft out to get the alternator out. Doesn't look like thers is a whole lot of room to pull the alternator out. Thanks
