Calcium clogging up fixures
I purchased a tankless water heater about 2 years ago. About 6 mo ago I noticed calcium deposits were starting to clog my shower heads and faucets. I know its calcium because the deposits crumble between my fingers. How do I fix this problem?

The calcium has little to do with the tankless heater, it is calcium dissolved in the water. Do you use a water softner?

You can take a samplke of your water to a softner company and they usually do a free test. They can tell you if they can soften the water and remove the calcium. I'd get the freebie test and then instal;l the softner myself, you can get them at Menards and Home Depot for under $500.

Ballengerb correctly stated that tankless heater has noting to do with calcification. In fact, if you think you have calcium problem, you should deal with it in timely manner before your tankless stops working. Calcification is the biggest enemy for tankless heaters. Manufacturer of each tankless heater suggest that these heaters are flushed with special solution once a year to wash out deposits of calcium.
Take a sample of you water to local Sears and have them to do water analysis. They will tell you exactly composition of you water, its hardness, and suggest to you what softener you should buy for your house. Coincidentally, Sears sells very good water softeners, the Kenmore Genius III model and others. Consider installing one. It will solve your dilemma.

Here's a Tankless Flush Kit,(see image) and how they hook up. Pricy at$200. Check them out at; RTG20124 Rheem Tankless Water Heater Flushing Kit.
PS. A much cheaper way would bbe to flush the tank out with white vinegar.
Good luck, Tom

Thanbks Tom, I did not even know that existed. At $200 I looked at the pics and see a $50 sump pump, a bucket for $5 and two stainless tubes, probably about $10 each. These guys must have brass ones to ask $200. What do you say we get together and market one for $100 and still get rich. LOL
Bob, I'll make em and you market em and in 3 months we'll both vacation in Aruba.
