Grand mother rights? Do I have them?
Both my son and my sons girlfriend had a baby that is now my grandson, I ended up taking him in and raising him as my own from age 4 years to 7. There maternal grandparents took him for the summer, and told me that I can't have him back or so much as speak to him any more its been almost a year now and its really hard with out him, I don't know what to do or how these people can do this to me? If any one has any information on what I can do or if I do have grandparent rights? Thank you.

What state are you in because every state is different with their grandparent laws. And I HIGHLY doubt you would get custody, you may receive visitation if the court sees it as in the best interest of the court.

Having been a year its going to be an uphill battle. How did you get custody in the first place ? Your going to need to go to court but it may be too late at this point because you weren't more proactive. You really need to seek a lawyer in your area that deals in family law and go in for an interview. Some states do have grandparents rights but if there is some reason the birth parents can't care for the child then there is always room for debate as to who has custody. You need to see a good lawyer to get real answers.
