Washer needs hit for motor to start
I have a Sears Kenmore washer model 110.25864400

I hear a humming sound for a few seconds. If we are fast enough to hit the washer, the motor will start to agitate or spin. Otherwise, we have to wait as long as 10 minutes to hear the sound again before we can get it to turn. Bad timer? That's pretty expensive to replace so I want to be sure it's not a relay or something else. Unplugging the power or rotating the timer does not help.

There is probably too much friction, a binding part or if the motor is capacitor start, then a bad capacitor. I diagram is supposed to be at Parts & Accessories | Shop & Find Lawn & Garden, Appliance Parts at Sears Parts Direct | SearsPartsDirect.com from Sears, but it isn't.
