Kenmore Washer Motor Coupling - tight fit
I have the Kenmore Automatic Washer #110,20932991 and recently needed to order a new Motor Coupling.

The old one was all plastic and the arm extensions broke. The new one (#285753A) has a metal insert in the center that fits around the spindle of the motor, but does not seat all of the way when putting it in. The old one seated all the way in.

When clamping the motor assembly together it some effort, and I am concerned that somehow I got the wrong part.

Is it normal for this coupling to not seat all the way at first, but then during operation will work its way in properly, or does it sound like I got the wrong part?

    Thank you for advice.

New replacement now are made of metal instead of plastic. Did you take a socket and a screwdriver handle to tap each end onto the motor and trans?

I initially tried to tap it into place but it seemed that it was not going on that way. I tried out the wash and spin cycles and it seems to be working properly. I never heard any unusual sounds but did smell a slight burning smell at first. It went away pretty quickly and has not returned.

    Thanks.

I say you have it installed OK then. Good Luck
