Installing wall remote for ceiling fan into wall switch
I've had no luck with getting the wall remote on my Hampton Bay ceiling fan to work.
I was able to get the fan to work with the wall switch, but once I change out the switch with the wall remote it doesn't work. The l.e.d. on the wall remote is not even lighting.
There are 6 switches on the wall. The top 3 are for the outdoor patio's ceiling fan and outlet. The bottom 3 are for the ceiling fan and outlet in my living room (the room that I am installing the fan in.) Ruling out the first bottom switch that affects the outlet, I have tried installing the wall remote in various configurations in the other two. One switch has 2 black wires and a ground. The other has one red, one black, and a ground. Any ideas on which switch / wire combination I should be using? There is one red switch coming from the ceiling that I have not attached - there was no instructions with the fan to connect it to anything.

What wires were in the ceiling and how did you connect the fan?

Thank you for your quick follow up!
The ceiling was pre-wired by the builder.
In the ceiling was one black, one white, one red, and one copper ground.
Per the fan's instructions I connected the black wire from the ceiling to the receiver's black wire marked "AC in L". Then I connected the white wire from the ceiling to the receiver's white wire marked "AC in N". Finally I connected the copper ground wire from the ceiling to the two green ground wires attached to the fan's mounting bracket. There is one red wire coming from the ceiling that I had not connected. (I did use the red wire when testing the fan to make sure that it worked with the regular wall switch, but the instructions did not say to use the red wire when installing with the wall mounted remote).

Ok. The fan's wall control should be installed in place of the switch that originally controlled the fan-- should be the two black wires and ground.
