    3 Weeks Late & 3 Negative HPT's. What now?
Since age seems to come up a lot when I've read about missed periods.. I am 20 years old. =) I have been with the same guy for over 2 years now, we stopped using birth control about 3 months ago. (For no particular reason.) While I was on birth control I had one missed period, turned out to be only about 5 days late and sure enough since then, my period has started on the 14th of every month. (Until May 2008.) It is now June 2nd and I still have not had my period. I have had no change in eating habits, exercise, stress, lifestyle.. etc. I have had headaches often, back pain and my stomach has been bothering me off and on. I have been a little bit more "emotional" lately too, am I letting this pregnancy thing get to my head? LoL, I just want to make sure I'm not hearing symptoms of other women and then thinking "wow, that sounds just like me." ALSO -- I don't smoke, drink or do drugs. I never have and never will. =)

I took 1 pregnancy test about 5-7 days after my missed period, when I got the negative result I thought it must be wrong and took another about a day later (also negative.) So I waited about 5 days after that and again, it was negative. Now 3 pregnancy tests later I am at a loss of what to do. =( I am currently not working, my boyfriend and I decided that he makes more than enough money to support both of us, and a child if that is the case, so I don't have any health insurance. I have no problem paying for a blood test but before I do, I would like to know if anyone has any input on my situation. Should I wait a few more weeks and try another HPT and then see a physician?

It could be simply that you stopped the birth control. It can take up to 6 months or more (depending on what kind of birth control you were on) for your natural hormones to take over again.

Wait another week or two and re-test. Make sure you are using first morning urine as it contains a higher concentration of hCG (pregnancy hormone) and tends to be more accurate. If that is still negative, you may want to schedule a doctor's appointment for a blood test and to find out why you are missing.

I took the last 3 tests when I first woke up so I'll make sure to do the same this time. I'll try another test in the next week or so and post again to let y'all know. Thanks.

In the meantime, you should treat yourself as if you are pregnant. No smoking or drinking, etc. Take a multivitamin or prenatal vitamin that contains folic acid.
