Let me introduce myself and my 3 Lovely Lady's and of course Joe, We came together through my want to quit smoking and have greeted each other daily from then on. (Started on this thread: https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/addictions/your-help-smoking-53890.html)
There's me, I quit smoking then started again and I'm in the process of quitting again...
Then we have Allheart oh my what a heart this lady has she has also quit smoking and is sticking to her guns and remains on the top branch of the quitting tree.
Then there's Synnen She has also quit smoking and proudly remains on that top branch too what a gal she is.
The last Lady but by no means least is Chippers now this lady has quit soda no more caffeine filled bottles of pop for this lady and she is also doing wonderfully, if your nice enough she might even let you have a go on the wash basket ride
And of course we have Joe he was meant to quit junk food but he is a naughty boy that needs us girls to keep him in tow.
So that's us why not come inside and say hi you never know you might just make it onto our special tree too.
We are 4 lady's and a joe ready to chit chat and help you on your way.

Hehehehehehe well come inside and settle down into your new corner of cyber space lady's and Joe xxxx

I wish it would just HAPPEN.

Don't get me wrong... the trying is fun and all... but you can only ride the roller coaster so many times without actually getting to do the big drop.

Well Just making a presence in the Wittering Quiters corner. Hmmmm,

I was looking through the old thread just to realise it has been closed and now it is being continued else where.

It is amazing how many memories and laughs and more we all had. Now we will have more here.

I wonder how long will it take for us to get past the 1500 mark again.

LOL

Well hello everybody. Saying my hello and I am sure we will all chat with each other lots here.

Have a great day, and a great weekend.

Synnen
May 4, 2007, 12:37 PM
Laura... darling... it's been 5.

We've done everything we can, and can afford. Anything not covered by insurance, like fertility counseling and tests and such... we just can't afford. I've been tracking ovulation for 3 years, and we try not to stress about it and just enjoy... but after a while it gets to the point where you just can't.

Gah... don't mind me. Go back to happy baby thoughts, darn it!

alkalineangel
May 4, 2007, 12:37 PM
Yes a year and sometimes a year and a half if birth control was involved prior to trying. Its easiest to just forget about (seems impossible, I know) but you know what I mean... stop trying so hard... it will happen. We took a nice romantic weekend away without any OPKs or HPTs or Thermometers or calendars and just relaxed and had fun... that was the ticket for us...

JoeCanada76

OK... disregard my previous post, I didn't realize you had been through all of that. Believe me I completely understand your situation though... I was a surrogate for my sister because she was told she could never carry full term. She suffered 7 miscarriages before giving up... and I suffered one last year and the waiting to start trying, and then the waiting for it to happen was hard... and that was only 8 months. IM sorry you have been through so much. Wish I had words to make it easier, but I know I don't.

Allheart
May 4, 2007, 12:42 PM
Syn - It's been 5 years?

So many times, I know people who reached the point you are, just throw their hands up in the air, and guess what happens then.? Yup.

But Syn I can't even imagine how the both of your hearts drop every month. The couple of times I thought I was, (we weren't trying - I was just late), my heart dropped.

I will keep you in my prayers Syn, don't you ever ever give up on anything. You may just have to take a different route, but give up? Sorry girl, that's not you.

curlybenswife
May 4, 2007, 12:43 PM

That just means that I'll be cheering that much more for all of the good news you bring about babies and such :)

alkalineangel
May 4, 2007, 12:54 PM
Haha... I don't really know you well yet, but I agree with CBW, because she does. And might I add that I think it is amazing that you have continued smoke free with all the stress... I would have caved already. Stress and cigarettes are my enemies...

Synnen
May 4, 2007, 01:01 PM
LOL... you guys miss the days when I'm begging everyone at work for a cigarette and they just laugh at me.

The main reason I quit smoking was to increase our chances of getting pregnant... so... it's a good reason NOT to start again.

Alka, I am really very happy for you! You'll have to keep us updated on everything that goes on with your pregnancy!

alkalineangel
May 4, 2007, 01:13 PM
Of course... although I was a little upset of the cost of my prenatals... whew! Almost $1 a pill. I may end up switching to the walmart brand, but something tells me the prescribed ones are better... I will... We are so excited. Its about time we get another one that we can actually keep.

Synnen
May 4, 2007, 01:46 PM
I've been taking folic acid and eating right (though too MUCH of what's right, really).

Working now on losing some of the weight I gained quitting smoking.

Darn I blinked and everything changed. Closing that thread was like the last visit to to my grandmother's house. I felt a sense of loss there. So many tears and laughter. So many happy memories. I'm positive we'll just pick up where we left off. I'm sure in no time we'll reach 1500 all over again. Maybe the next thread we can call it the 1500 branch society.
Syn, I agree with Joe and Heart, when you stop trying and just relax, then it'll happen.
We tried so hard to have number 2 without success. Then one night I stoppedd thinking about it, had a glass of asti and the next thing I knew 4 weeks later, I was pregnant.( the fact I almost threw up on a patient was a really good clue that I was.)
Angel, I applaud your effort in quitting caffiene and smoking. They are the 2 most hard things to quit. If you can quit both at once you're stronger than anyone I know. We'll all be rooting for you. The clothes basket ride will awaiting you. All goddesses in our realm will be here for support, laughter and a shoulder to cry on. Everyone here went above and beyond the call of friendship for me when my mother died march 30th2007. Their support and love was endearing. I love them all and feel blessed to call them friends. Our circle of friends that is getting bigger each day when people like you come and stay.
The prenatals in the vitamin shelf work just as the prescribed. Actually some were originally by prescription but are now over the counter.
Syn, I'm wondering when the bun is in the oven, are we going to be godmothers and Joe?

Love,
chippers

Laura,
Did hawee teach you that? Pray for me ladies and Joe. I'm taking the boys out for dinner tonight. Mr. chippers is away playing army for the weekend. He'll be back tomorrow.
Hope all are having a great spring day. I got to sleep in this morning which is rare in this house. I was up cleaning all night while the rotten monsters were asleep. Ewven asleep you can still hear the wheels turning. I talked with my father again. He'll be moving up here sooner than next summer. I think he's found a senior citizens development very close to home.
Have a nice day ladies and joe. Or goddesses and joe. If you don't hear from me tomorrow, I'm in a straight jacket somewhere.
Love,
Chippers

Well I survived dinner with the boys tonight. They were like gentlemen. Even when we went to the grocery store. Now walmart is another matter. I swear there has to be a walmart curse out there. It hits all kids when they walk through the door. My son said it's the falling prices. I have a different theory. Like if they behave like banzies then mom will get us whatever they want. The reality of leaving the cart right where is stands and walking out and heading home is a real eye opener.
No sooner did they get out of there were they gentlemen again. It's like doseless electro shock therapy.
I'm getting spring cleaning done as much as I can. We're planning to get our kitchen redone and the house painted. So I'm going through the house and if its broken or missing pieces it goes out. I do it covertly while the boys are in school. It saves on tears that way.
I do mr. chippers while he's at work. It saves me money on a divorce lawyers. That way if he is missing something, I can play as dumbfounded as he is. Hehe. Aren't I bad

What is "wittering"?

Wittering is a form of intellectual humor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humor). A wit is someone skilled in making witty remarks, typically spontaneously and in conversation.

That is a good definition. If anybody wants to correct me, please chime in. lol

That's what it says in the dictionary lol wittering is just a word for lots of talking.

JoeCanada76
May 6, 2007, 01:20 AM
I thought that wittering is a long version of the word wit, which means witty which means humour which means. Okay I could go on but I think it might be too much wittering for everybody here.

May 6, 2007, 01:24 AM

May 6, 2007, 02:28 PM
Hello one and all. Joe no offense to your manliness, but from my experience, men and pregnancy go together like water and oil. But if you are pregnant Joe, I want dibbs on writing your story. I promise it'll make Lady chatterly's lover look like a kiddy book. Hehe. Embellishments and all.
As for wittering, we, being very intelligent people didn't look inside the box instead of out side it. Go figure.
Well I watched Pride and Prejudice twice last night and mamged to calm down. I let the boys out on early parole andlet them camp out in the living room and watch dvds last night.
Imagine my surprise when I woke up and found my gentlemen were back again.
Laura when I reread what I wrote about Mr. chippers, I busted out laughing too. The way I worded it "I do Mr. chippers" is priceless.
I so hate grocery shopping. When I remember I order on line through acme. The 10.00 delivery fee is worth it. I make that up by not impulse buying. Or spending an extra 30.00 if I take the kids with me. It makes life so much easier.
How is Hawee doing. How is Millie with her new friend. I think it's precious.
Hugs to everyone Joe, Syn, Laura, Heart and our other new goddesses.

Chippers.

I feel like I was stuck in some kind of time warp... good Monday Morning all! (well I guess its afternoon for some of ya's overseas)

I went to see my parents this weekend, and their new house for the first time.

Mom and I went garage saling, and to a few antique stores. We had dinner with my dad's boss and his wife, and sat out on their porch with drinks, and then went out looking at the sights for a while yesterday before I had to drive back.

It was just a nice weekend with my parents.

curlybenswife
May 7, 2007, 08:35 AM
Have they settled in Synn??

Synnen
May 7, 2007, 08:50 AM
Mostly. They have some boxes to unpack yet, and they're still filling rooms and putting up paintings and stuff like that. It's a nice house

My mom is pretty sad yet, though, about the whole moving thing. They sold the old house this weekend, so they were both happy and sad about that. Plus, mom misses the grandkids.

It's a nice town, though. I had to laugh when I found out my parents live on Main Street, in a town with one traffic light. Main Street, by the way, is paved with brick. It made me giggle.

curlybenswife
May 7, 2007, 09:05 AM
I hate moving house this is the longest we have stayed in one place ever for 7 years I moved either once or twice a year till we moved here to the coast. I think I just moved way too much it gets very annoying.

Main street huh does mickey mouse live there too :D

Synnen
May 7, 2007, 09:13 AM
Lol... The whole town reminds me of Mayberry.

This is the first time my parents have moved in like 28 years, so it was pretty tough.

I'm looking forward to buying a house, so that I can forget about moving for a while.

Good evening everyone. Alka, I feel the same way sometimes. If I blink I miss a chapter of my life. But once I'm in here with all my friends, I'm up to speed.
Don't be so hard on yourself about yelling at the yappy hostess. I'd have done it too and I have. Their complaints take out a little of your enjoyment when they do they. I had a hair dresser constantly complain about her job and her boss while she was cutting my hair. Ladies if your like me, getting my hair cut is very traumatic by itself. It ranks up there with a doctor doing surgery on me. So I changed hairdressers. No need to worry about hmo denying it.
Syn, I've been meaning to tell you that I have that same chair. I love it and actually fell asleep in it once. You look so nice sitting in it.
Laura, I hope your banker's holiday was nice for you and Millie and Hawee. Did Ben have to work or was he home as well
Mr. chippers works nights so having him home at night is a rarity. And nice to have a bed buddy other than the cats.(don't tell them I said that or they'll revolt)
Shelly, hope you had a nice weekend.
Joe, I've been meaning to tell you something. I like you. I like you very much. I like your strength and that you are a rare man who is secure and happy in your married life. You treat women with respect. And you respect yourself. There's not to many like you out there. I'm glad you're here with us and even more so to call you friend. Plus having a man around gives us the view from the other half. Thank you for being here. I'm sure we all think that too.
By the way, I'm not hitting on you, just being honest. Hehe

Oh the thighs and no life gaurds in sight. We don't have rugby here in the u.s. but the ups men in their shorts will do.
So glad you found us moon. We were afraid we'd loose the new members who joined us on the last thread. We would've missed you.
The kids have a 1/2 day of school today due to election primaries. Oh joy! Can't wait to see who gets in this time.
I guess a little anarchy in the morning never hurt anyone. Sorry ladies and Joe but the caffiene hasn't hit my system yet.
The Queen looked splendid on her visit here to tour the Jamestown colony. I always did admire her.
But not as much as I admire my fellow goddesses and of course Joe.

May 8, 2007, 01:49 PM
This is the best thread I have read so far. I would like to quit smoking too, I have lot's of kids and a husband that doesn't smoke. Wow you guys are doing great things for your body. Hope to chime in. Is this where I wait and you ask me what am I waiting for?

Allheart
May 8, 2007, 01:51 PM
Hi Start :) and it's time you stopped too :)

startover22
May 8, 2007, 01:54 PM
Yes you are right. I smell like an ashtray and I hate it. I have quit before I think 4 times or 3 actually, stayed done for a year and then I let one slip right between my fingers and ahhhh. Now I need to do it again. Cold turkey guys?

Allheart
May 8, 2007, 02:04 PM
No, I actually was put on the medicine Chantix. I did seemed to work.

Oh my you had stopped for a year? I think what got me was I just didn't like having to stand outside everywhere. It got to the point where I wasn't enjoying the cigarette anymore.

Basically, I just wasn't feeling the love, from anyone. They just don't love us smokers ( I will always be a smoker at heart).

I was told the nicotene companies have now laced the cigarettes with a more addictive ingredient to keep us hooked. That really made me man and inspired me to say NO MORE. It's a struggle every day, but we are here for you and we are here for each other, whether we stick to it or slip and fall.

startover22
May 8, 2007, 02:04 PM
Ok, tomorrow I will be stopping, now that I know you guys know it, I have to. You see I am a closet smoker, and now that I have come out IT IS ALL OVER!! Hope to be getting support as I go, as I will give the same for you. Junk food and caffine will have to wait though!

Synnen
May 8, 2007, 02:07 PM
There's no way I could give up coffee too!

I have, though, inadvertently given up alcohol. I just can't seem to enjoy a beer without a smoke... so... no beer!

You can do it! I quit cold turkey, but let me tell you... I wish I'd had medication of some sort. It was awful, you know, you've done it already. But... we're here when you need to complain about how badly you need that smoke!

Allheart
May 8, 2007, 02:08 PM
Start - you are not a quitter - but a winner!! You can do this!

Yup, your secret is out!! The door is off that closet!!

Tomorrow is your day, okay :)

startover22
May 8, 2007, 02:11 PM
Ok, I will come out so to speak. Can't wait, seems so stupid to me that I would even want to anyway. I would really like to be around for all the up coming events in my life. I know I know stop talking the talk and walk the walk! Ok then, tomorrow it is. See you then. A lot!!

chippers
May 8, 2007, 02:51 PM
Not only is the door off but Heart, now has the door bolts so you can't hide behind it now. Start, the only way to quit is any way you can. There is no fool proof way. You know your body as well as yourself. We pass no judgement here only support. People fall from time to time and we understand that. Were here to help you up. There's gum, lozengers, zyban, and chantix. As well as cold turkey. I forgot the patches (I wish they made a caffiene patch) We know where you're coming from and how hard it is. Smoking is addictive and breaking the hold is a big step but not an impossible one.
When I quit I told my husband to buckle up it's going to be a bumpy ride. I have kids too and they were my inspiration as well as my conscience. Do what ever you can to quit and were here on the top branch spurring you on.
We owe it all to Cbw, who brought us all together and the courage to quit our respective addictions. Mine being caffiene now. Cigs was 2 years ago. We inspire each other with love friendship and strength.
I hope we can inspire you and you'll stay.
Were all goddesses in our own way.

Btw have you heard about the terrorist arested at fort dix and cherry hill today? Both in my back yard so to speak.
But I'm cool, grace under fire. I just wish my knees would stop knocking together.
Hehe

Hehe caffeine patches... remnds me of "meet the robinsons"... cute movie if you haven't seen it. My son loved it, but I was sobbing like a baby. Lol... not sad, just sweet.

Good Luck Startover... I quit smoking 12 days ago. I found that suckers help a lot. You use your mouth and hand... so it helps with that oral fixation thing... I did however have a relapse on the caffeine... but I did switch back to regular coke from Diet, and believe me I am drinking far less of that liquid sugar... blech!

How is everyone today? You all were busy last night...

startover22
May 9, 2007, 09:22 AM
That does sound beautiful. We have a huge garden for the first time so we will be tilling for the next week. Can't wait to see the kids pull their carrots and such from the garden. That is priceless. Kids seem to think it all grows at the store. Anyway, good luck with the lavender, I love walking by those, they smell wonderful.

Synnen
May 9, 2007, 09:28 AM
Startover... you're doing great!

Great idea to keep busy--I found occasionally that meditation helped get over the worst of the cravings, and if that didn't work, I just took a walk! Of course, I quit in January, when being outside was a good reminder of why I quit in the first place!

startover22
May 9, 2007, 09:39 AM
Very nice, Synnen. January huh? Good job. Every time I quit, I just took long deep breaths like I am taking a good long drag off my marlboro red and ahhhhh, that curves the cravings for about 3 days for me, then it is on my way to repairing what I have been doing to my poor body. You can come to our house and get our garden in shape, I could use some help and support.

Synnen
May 9, 2007, 09:50 AM
You know... if I could, I would. My mother says the same thing!

Hopefully, we will buy a house this year, and can have a garden of our own next year!

A lot of wittering! I guess you needed more then an hour to read all of it. Lol

Wait until we get all of these pages filled up. Oh, maybe we should reminise sometimes and bring in some of the jokes over here to this thread. Lol

Especially the one about the monkey. Never laughed so hard. I think I pissed and crapped myself at the same time.

JoeCanada76
May 9, 2007, 04:45 PM
Startover22, I think you got it. Do you want to explain to Synnen?

Wendys is a lot healthier then Mcdonalds for sure.

It is all right occasionally but a lot of people today that is what they live off.

Ever watch Supersize me? All he had was mcdonalds for almost a month. He was healthy, but near the end of it. His liver, kidneys and other organs started to show signs of disease and getting ready to shut down.

That tells you a lot right there.

11 hours check in. How am I going to get to sleep? Should I really take some nyquill?
My husband is grumpy and the kids want to do lots, oh, I will just hide till morning. Maybe I will go sleep in the barn... LOL Quarter Pounder, how much does an anorexia girl weigh... tha would be the start to getting that joke. At least I think so...

JoeCanada76
May 9, 2007, 07:08 PM
Oh why not. Take a swig of the nyquill, just try not to replace one drug with another.

Good for you. 11 hours check in. Sleeping in the barn, that does not sound like fun.

Oh, lol Thank you for explaining the joke.

I am going to say goodnight to everyone who is here. It is 10 pm, and I am just wiped.

Start that's great!! I'm proud of you. Before you know it you'll be passed the first 24 hours.
You're in the right place to quit. I really think the more you talk about it and not keep it bottled up is better for everyone. When I had the urde for a cig, I sucked on a tootsie pop(the small ones) or put sugar free gummie bears in the fridge. They get harder and take longer to eat
I made a deal with my boys not to smoke. I took my oldest (he was nine at the time) to the drug store and had him ask the guy at the counter for the niccoret gum. That way he was a part of me quitting. Knowing I made promises to the two people I couldn't disappoint helped me stay in the wagon.
Calling all goddesses and Joe. Please tell your favorite flower or outside plant so I can plan my garden.
Syn already gave me her's.
As for crude remarks, I had a really nasty patient ask me to go down on him. I said I was a vegaterian and didn't eat weinies. He never bothered me again.(true story)
As for Joe and mcdonalds, I'll never be able to look at a quarter pounder the same way again.
Laura, I hope you have a better day tomorrow. I'll be in and out until the afternoon so I'll catch up with everyone later.
Sorry for these long posts but I try to keep up with everyone.
Syn, I love lily of the valley too. It's the flower of may.
AH, you sweet lovely, I love ou too.

Sweet dreams fellow goddesses and joe.

Thanks chippers, I will talk and talk and talk. I am actually doing really good right now but still want to smoke, cold turkey is hard but it gets done more quick. I feel great about this decision to quit. Grady my oldest son, knows and I can't let him down, especially him. I am almost through the day and ready for sleep.

I love pansies any color, any size. When the end of the season comes I pick them and press them, every time I open one of my magazines, one might fall out and I get a little piece of summer again. Love Pansies

As for mcdonalds, I am never going to eat there, I might have a milkshake or something but never ever eat there.

I've seen a couple of you on other threads and when I saw this thread I just decided to stop and say Hi Y'all.
I quit smoking on my fortieth birthday. I was in the hospital after my appendix ruptured and had been well sedated for most of a week and had come off oxygen that morning. The motorcycle club came to see me and I bummed a cig from one of the guys who smoked my brand and a light from another. Of course somebody offered to jump up and down on my chest to get me started. One drag on that cig. And it tasted so bad that I gave it back. True story and I get to tell people that it cost me 18 thousand dollars to quit smoking.
In truth I smoked another month or so after getting out of hospital but did succeed in quitting. It's been 22 years now and if I can make it anyone can. Just hang in there and take it just as they say... One day at a time!

Hello and good morning all! I missed all the good jokes I see... oh well... IM am sorry everyone is feeling lousy and having hard days...

My favorite flower is Stella D'Oro Daylillies... or Heather...

For StartOver: I liked to read this when I first quit to see how I was benefitting myself...

When smokers quit, within twenty minutes of smoking that last cigarette the body begins a series of changes.

At 20 minutes after quitting:

Blood pressure decreases

Pulse rate drops

Body temperature of hands and feet increases

At 8 hours:

Carbon monoxide level in blood drops to normal

Oxygen level in blood increases to normal

At 24 hours:

Chance of a heart attack decreases

At 48 hours:

Nerve endings start regrowing

Ability to smell and taste is enhanced

The first year after quitting:

At 2 weeks to 3 months:

Circulation improves

Walking becomes easier

Lung function increases

1 to 9 months:

Coughing, sinus congestion, fatigue, shortness of breath decreases

1 year:

Excess risk of coronary heart disease is decreased to half that of a smoker

Long-term Benefits of Quitting

At 5 years:

From 5 to 15 years after quitting, stroke risk is reduced to that of people who have never smoked.

At 10 years:

Risk of lung cancer drops to as little as one-half that of continuing smokers

Risk of cancer of the mouth, throat, esophagus, bladder, kidney, and pancreas decreases

Risk of ulcer decreases

At 15 years:

Risk of coronary heart disease is now similar to that of people who have never smoked

Risk of death returns to nearly the level of people who have never smoked

I am having a really cranky day. Maintenance issues in my apartment, having more of what I hate given to me at work (apparently I'm good at it), Mother's day ALWAYS makes me cranky, and I think I have PMS to top it all off.

And I feel like my words were thrown back at me in that silly "Love Spells" thread.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

GREAT INFO there Al.

Startover - how darn proud are you of what your doing. You just keep it up girl. Laugh at it if you can. Just know, it is soooooo worth it. Honeslty, my skin looks different then it did while I smoked. My face looks healthier, if that makes sense. Stay strong.

CBW hope things are going better for you.

Hugs to Joe and Superfamily.

Laura... you need me to come beat someone up for you? I have a pipe wrench, and I can use it!

You know that I'd come baby you if I were closer, honey.

Start... MOST people don't know about casting spells. It's better that way, really! There has been in the last several years though a few TV shows about witches (mostly inaccurate) and that's given a whole generation of young girls a really bad image of what casting spells can do.

Been doing it since I was 14 years, I am 32 now... almost 33. I guess it is time to say good bye, my body and mind want a drag. I will not give in. I will not. Was it OK that I told you how old I was?

Yes that post gave me the goose bumps and tears as well. Thanks for the help, your posts were absolutely brilliant... I thought people would respond along with me, I just couldn't find the words for some reason, maybe because I haven't gone through any of those feelings yet...

You know, Laura, I know someone that was in the mafia, I don't even know his real name. (not kidding) I might be able to team up with synnen and her pipe wrench to help out...
I am in that kind of mood right now anyway. I am still smiling though!1

I'm not going to lie to you.

By next Tuesday, you'll be MISERABLE. You'd happily kill someone for a cigarette, at times. YOU CAN DO IT, THOUGH.

I will probably always consider myself a smoker. I LOVE it. I love the taste, the feeling, the whole kit and kaboodle. If *I* can quit, you can quit. I smoked from 18 to 32.

You can lose it here as often as you like. We'll just keep holding you up.

It will get easier... the first 3-5 days are the only "withdrawel days" you have... then the rest of the days are just kicking the "habits"... you know... rolling the window down in the car, pushing your chair away from the table after eating, when a commercial comes on the TV running outside... the habits... it is hard... but after you are past the withdrawel of the nicotene, you will def. have the energy to fight the habit.
