Well, folks, I thought I would start a thread that has absolutely NO subject.

So, welcome to The Lounge. A great place to chit-chat about everything and nothing. No matter what you want to say here will be off-topic.

The menu:

Coffee (Val I made it just for you)
Kool-aid for Tal
I have my Pepsi

Anybody want anything else, just let me know.

So, why don't we all pull up a chair, sit back, relax, and chill!!

Welcome to The Lounge :D

P.S. Everyone bring their favorite hot sauce to pass around.

Oh, yeah, the only thing I ask: No Arguing, we are here to have FUN!

Watched Shaun of the Dead (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0365748/) last night for the first time. What a hoot!

All the rivers are flooded round here so have to hit the backwaters for the Saturday snake hunt with the kids.

Might check out Monster House (http://movie-times.movies.go.com/movietimes/movie?movieId=48718&date=20060722&zip=43017) tonight if they're good.

Has been 90 degrees plus with equal humidity here lately, but a beautiful one out there today!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Hey, Rick! Welcome. Shaun of the Dead was really a hoot. Snake hunt? Can Johnny come, he loves snakes.

Heat index yesterday was 114F here. Had really BAD thunderstorms last night and woke up to 75 this morning. Supposed to get down into the 50s tonight.

Will be rough on Rae in the morning though, she has her State Finals for swim team in the morning.

DONE! Is Monster House still on? I can't find it. I love that show! Did you ever see the one in which the guy bluffed his way on the show as an electrician? Wow, what a gomer! I want my house redone with a "Midnight at the Oasis" motiff and a real working oil well right in the middle of the living room floor! D-O-N-E! DONE!

Wow... a snake hunt, that sounds like fun. Well not so much for me, but I'm sure the kids would enjoy it.

We want to see "Monster House" too. I think it will be good.

J_9
Jul 22, 2006, 10:42 AM
It is a series on TV Aqua, just in case you don't know.

Personally, I like Dr. G Medical Examiner, and Super Surgery. I guess from my soon-to-be profession you could all guess that I like the medical shows.

My favorite is ER as far as network TV goes.

Magprob... Rick is referring to the movie "Monster House". LOL

The link he put was to the movie.

J_9
Jul 22, 2006, 10:48 AM
Okay, so I got my Monster Houses mixed up too. Guess Magpie is right, I rode the short bus to school. LOL

I have been wanting to see Lady in The Water, but wasn't sure if it was worth the money.

Superman was really not that good?

Hmmm, we have a new movie theater 6 miles away!! It is great now I don't have to drive 40 miles just to go to the movies. Took Johnny to his first movie the other day, Cars.. He loved it!

Passing the kool-aid to Tal...

Anybody for a swim? I put a ton of ICE in the pool yesterday right before the cold rain hit. Yee-haw the temp in my pool is now 76 instead of 92 like it was yesterday morning. Yesterday all we needed was a bar of soap and some shampoo. Not very refreshing.

EXCUSE ME, by the way, this post has no subject and I am talking about Monster House the TV show Not The Movie thank you very much! Besides, how interesting would it be to watch Monster House the movie? Unless you are into a bunch of big musculer, sweaty construction workers pounding on things for 2 1/2 hours... no thank you! 30 minutes is enough! :D

Ughhhhhh it's 110 right now, why, I don't know but it's not supposed to be like this in the bay area, and it's starting to bug me out. I would like to workout today but it's like torture in this kind of sun, the only problem is that the heat never goes away, ever, it just stays till around 9 and then it's too dark out. It really is incredible how hot it is across the country. The worse part about this heat is that it screws up your routine, I have a routine you know and I can't follow that routine when I feel I am being shoved into a pizza oven when I walk outside. I am seriously wondering whether I could cook an egg on the sidewalk, it should be a little hotter but with the right skillet and a little magic who knows...

I love skinny dipping, and have done so in California at Blacks Beach, in Oregon at Rooster Rock and here in Florida at Playalinda Beach. After you've seen a few hundred naked bodies, its possible to envision anyone at all without any clothes on...

Scans the lounge slowly looking at everyone, bwaaah hahahahah!

I'll join the party, I will bring some fresh picked strawberries and whipped cream. Do you have any iced ginseng green tea? It is so hot here, we tried hiking yesterday, fortunately we happened along a stream. We were roasted and thought of just putting our feet in the water but ended up stripping and in went the bodies, head and all.
Has anyone seen the new Pirates movie?

J_9
Jul 22, 2006, 07:16 PM
Nope, no ginseng green tea, but heck, I can go get some. Yummie fresh strawberries!!

WELCOME Cassie!!

It has been HOT here too,a and humid as HE** Had to stay inside all week with curtains and doors shut just so the air conditioner would work!

Cooled nicely to 85 today. Going to be in he low 60s or high 50s tonight.

Have not seen the Pirates movie yet. I heard it was good though.

Jul 22, 2006, 07:38 PM
Expect weather out here is gonning to be 100+ till next weekend. I did see the pirates movie, it was really really good, long as hell, like three hours, but you will be entertained. However it takes a toll on the butt.

Cassie
Jul 22, 2006, 08:13 PM
Thanks for the tea, I will just sip it and put the cold glass on my neck.
I loved the last pirate movie, I will go while it is hot. That way, it may take a but toll, but ahhh the air conditioned theater.

wizzkid89
Jul 22, 2006, 08:18 PM
Yeah you will definitely have some time in there though because I believe the running time is 2 hours and 46 minutes, so you'll have 3 hours of nothing but air conditioned exctasy.

1. If you come for beer on my patio, please leave the green skittles at home.
2. When I was stationed at Camp Pendleton (1985) I visited Black's Beach. At the time, few had heard of it. I'm lol to see it mentioned... and you certainly bring back a flood of memories from those days!!

I can remember it now: A bunch of Marines on the beach each armed with a 12-pack of beer and a ghetto blaster... and the hot tune of the day: Tina Turner's What's Love Got To Do With It cranking out.

... was that really me? :o

You're right magprob, he did say that, and it's true, last Saturday I went into San Fran, for a Pearl Jam concert and it was a cool 65. Mind you where I live it was 100 out. And the bart is was only like 30 minutes including the number of stops along the way and people getting off and on. Really San Fran is about a hour drive from here, including the California highway system. Start, stop, start, stop, start, stop. But that's what is great about San Fran is that while your melting where you live, you can go there and chill out.

By the way 5 points go to rick, for using the word ghetto blaster

One morning about 6 AM, back in the early 70's,two buddies and I climbed down to Blacks Beach to do a little surfing. There was only us and Penthouse Magazine doing a shot with three models on the whole beach. We were kind of watching the models but noticed some whales out a little ways making their way north up the coast. One of the staff from Penthouse walked up to us and asked us not to stare at the models as they were getting nervous and annoyed! We started cracking up and pointed to the whales and told them that's what we were watching. So the photographer got the whales in the shot. We told him we see nude people here all of the time but rarely see that many whales so close up... I think they went for it! :D

About 2 years later I was in the army in Germany looking at a Penthouse and there they were. I started jumping and screaming and showing everyone the pics and told them I was there that morning and did some whale watching with the three models in the pics. Not one person believed me. :o

Jul 24, 2006, 12:08 AM
I believe you man... I got all the faith in you... plus who doesn't love a good penthouse story ;)

Anyway, I am pretty pissed, I paid ten bucks for the mp3's from the pearl jam concert I went to because I wanted them for cd because it was totally awesome. So beside the greatness, I burnt them and they didn't play, so now I am wondering why... go figure... it just really pisses me off when things are supposed to work and they don't, it's like getting kicked in the nuts and slapped in the face.

A ray from Heaven shown upon me... Inspiring me... to contine on... it looked a little something like this...

http://img346.imageshack.us/img346/4216/stimpyvn0.jpg

I finally found my extra cd's stuff in the back of the closet, they burned, and all is good in the world. Except that in the midst of enjoying my tunes I drained a lot from my already drained battery in my car. UH OH. But it's PEARL JAM, can you blame, no I didn't think you could. Either way it's one right now in the morning, and my friend's birthday is today.

Speaking of my friend he has stayed here the last few days, because believe it or not we have power outages in California right now. His entire block has been without electricity going on three days, meanwhile the temp has stayed at a nice 115. And he only lives like three blocks away so go figure, my house has been perfectly cool, therefore he has stayed here to escape the scorching sun that inevitable leads us all to death. Or at least that is how it feels when it's 1 in the morning and it's like 90 out. Anyway, I got my job done, and I am pretty tired, pooped you could say, a little dry mouthed, running out of liquid's here. Eitherway when you all wake up, we shall party again. I bid you adue.

No, but I really want to see it. My neighbor saw it and said it was good. She was telling me how the man that wrote it actually started telling a story to his children each night and eventually it became this movie. I would love to have seen what she watched, it sounded quite intersting.
Some movies I like to rent later, but that one and the pirates movie I want to see on the big screen.

Thank you very much Karma but. . But.. .
how does I = on?

Is it 0 and 1 as numbers and it's a binary thing or is there some word beginning in I that I am not correlating to ON?
No,wait, it's a symbol thingy right? -- O being a closed circuit symbol and l being an open circuit symbol -- is that it??

Is it 0 and 1 as numbers and its a binary thing or is there some word beginning in I that I am not correlating to ON?You are on the correct tract - it is a binary thing where the symbols are indeed the numbers 1 and 0, they are not the letters I and O. In binary 1 = ON and 0 = OFF.

There, wasn't that simple AND fun? :)

...wakes up with greasy hair looks around...notices it's around 1. p.m.
...sees a bunch of dishes with left over breakfast on them...

?! HEY WHEN DID WE HAVE BREAKFAST??

By the way val I almost fell out of my chair, when you made the going to the short bus on my own, maybe it's a little earlier in the day to say this but...

CONGRATULATIONS YOU MADE MY DAY!

Anyway, I don't drink coffee, to many steps, to otherwise have a drink that's warm and should be cold. I don't know how you guys do it. Probably to wake up, but as a gamer we prefer drinks like redbull, which is quite interesting and I figured out why it keeps you awake. Here is the story...

Like I said before I am a gamer, and at the pro events, I would want to be as twitchy as possible to ensure perfect gaming, so there would be these redbull lounges and everyone would go and get one. I would mix mine however with gatorade, so I made sure I never fell asleep for the next 48 hours. Anyway, I told that story to tell you this story. About a month and half ago, my stepdad and I were going to go visit where we use to live, Aberdeen South Dakota, and we decided to drive there. It's around 1745 miles. Anyway, after we had stayed for about a week, we decided to go back, so we loaded up the car and what not, anyway as we started to leave, I got this notion that we just try to drive the entire thing. South Dakota to California, in under 24 hours. We were tired of motels, hotels, HOLIDAY INNS, so we decided why not. Well around 3 am in Nevada, he was dog tired as was I, but it was my turn for driving, so I decided I needed a little pick me up. I only had like 3 dollars, on me, we were really running low on money, and I bought me a red bull, but no gatorade. Anyway, to make a long story short, it kept me up, because it tasted like ****, it was horrible, I mean just horrible, I couldn't have fallen asleep at the wheel if I wanted to it was bad. Anyway, we made it in under 24 hours, non-spot, and actually I would do it again, because I hate hotels.

Lipstick too only not as bad. And shoes that hurt, forget that! And I am not so hot on bras either, to tell the truth -- but that is for when I am slouching at home only, thank you. Is this TMI yet?

J_9
Jul 24, 2006, 07:19 PM

You know speaking of shoes that hurts, lipstick and aquanet, that's my Saturday night get up, funny how the world works ;).

It depends on what day it is for my bed head. I have more hair than the usual guy, at least my friends, they all have super short hair and I couldn't handle that, so mine is just longer, my hair reaches down to the back of my neck not all the way around though. In the front if you STRETCH my hair it goes to my nose, however I don't have god's greatest gift which is straight hair, mine is curly and PUFF's so it looks like a fro. Anyway, when I go out I gell it and all is good. I have used aquanet though before, it just makes things stick and sometimes that's what you need.

So chery what's the first thing you are going to do with the new grandkid?

I also would like to say that this lounge is pretty cool, because I will get of my computer around 2 am wake up around 12 and there is already like 15-20 posts.

The heat is coming again, and CALIFORNIA IS EXPECTING ROLLING BLACKOUTS! Camping trip anyone? I read a report online about the energy crisis and it's already gotten worse than 2000-2001, the reason it isn't so bad yet is because of the new equipment. However reports from the energy sites are that it will die out soon, very soon, too soon. They recommend shutting down useless electrical stuff. But I need to have my cell phone charging, my TV on, my computer going, the ac blowing, and my toaster struddles toasting or else I can't make it through the day. You know what I mean? In all seriousness though, I have turned down my electrical stuff, but I get a little pissed, because somehow I feel like I am the only one who cares. I mean even if I decided to only have the ac going and watch paint dry to entertain myself, what keeps my neighbor from using everyoutlet in his house! The heat is rising and the power is fading :(. Honestly it will only be a matter of time before the lights go out in California. That is why I have developed a back up plan. I AM GOING TO RUN MY HOUSE ON BATTERIES. Now I need your guy's is help here, please if you have any extra batteries, please send them to

555 North West Burboun Street. San Francisco. (Don't actually send them, I don't live there, but with my luck it will be an actually house and I don't want to give a stranger free batteries.)

Anyway, I think the heat is making me delirious, either that or I haven't seen the outside world in days...

Wizz.. I've been spending so much time talking to and rubbing 'peanut' that I'm sure the kid is going to come out and utter his/her first words - Shut up gamma!

It's been so much fun lately, watching him/her have some serious hiccups, changing positions and tell Mom not to eat too much garlic or the gas will be sent right back up..

I've had my movie camera with me like a third arm and got some real cute footage. Even from the doctor's office where the fetal heart tones are checked - it takes around twenty minutes, and the sounds are loud - peanut does not like to hear the loud thump, thump, and really moves a lot to try and get those connections off Moms tummy. It freaks me out just to watch.

Jaime does not want to know the sex, but the heartbeat is so fast, that I think it's going to be a girl. Will let you all know as soon as it gets here.

As for your energy problem, don't they have the opportunity to go for solar energy near you home? It seems to work pretty good - just the initial installation might cost, but it does work.

Golly, just went to edit my... comment and saw an agreement - what did you agree to? Did I just give away our secret?? Sorry.

Just to add some ballast for Wizz to how awful rolling blackouts must be... we lived for fifteen days two summers ago in the aftermath of that first big hurricane without power or any kind of support. It was beyond camping. I lost ten pounds in just about ten days when I don't need to lose any, mostly over the unbelievably hard effort of digging out and cleaning up all while in a totally stressed to the max condition like some kind of a low grade shock. The hardest sight I can still recall is seeing three big vultures sitting low in a tree close by as I first ventured outside picking off the dead wildlife as it came floating by while trying to determine how far out from a downed powerline the current would be should it somehow still be live in all that standing water just before I stepped into it. Not fun either.

Val, I have family and friends in Florida, and that really was hard when Katrina went through. I know your not talking about katrina, however it seems what you went through really had to suck. The only thing I am not looking forward to is not being able to use my computer if a rolling blackout comes this way and no a/c. If it get's too bad, I might just go take a trip up to some friends and family in Seattle.

I probably shouldn't be talking, because I don't like sweets, I don't like icecream, cake, popsicles everyonce in a while, but what really floats my boat are those orange pushups, that's pretty much the only ice cream I like. If it get's any hotter here in California, I think wizz is about to go on a world tour. If anybody is willing to take the hammock, than I will stop by. Who knows I might bring presents. I could be like a summer santa. But with a hammock, and slippers. And a really laid back attitude, I could spread easy going throughout the world...

Temp here is almost the same and it is only 9 in the morning!! UGH, long day ahead.

Was there a special occasion last night for all the good food?

Krs
Jul 26, 2006, 06:57 AM
It's the same at 8.30am too. When I get in my car and look at the temp termometar it states 35deg C...
It gets very hot here in Malta and summer months are long, but I don't complain because id rather have the heat then the rain and grey weather.

Well no special occasion really!
It was spontanious and unexpected which was great!
Mums boyfriend loves cooking for us. He is sicilian and enjoys cooking so he walked in with a bag full of meats and salads :)
Bless him, he so sweet.
But it was nice, like a full family again, we mum, her boyfriend, my bro, hubby and my uncle.

Good morning AMHD :)
Another hot summer morning... and i feel like im getting a cold :(

Last night ate loads my God, had a BBQ cooked by a sicilian man for me and my family, quantities of food, steak, pork, sausages, chips, salad, bread! The works hehehe.
Wine and... beer!

my wife is italian. Which means she's a cousin, aunt, niece, or some other kind of relative to half of the south side of our city.

this means at any moment our little dinner could become an event of 50 people. Not often, but it happens.

and as such she has the cook-enough-food-for-an-army mentality, and its now rubbed off on me. Good for leftovers and freezing. But it gets a little nuts sometimes.

that reminds me. I need to start cooking the meatballs and basta for this weekends gathering. 26 expected... seconds and take-homes... anyone want to peel the garlic or onions?

=)

Everyone needs an Italian in their family to. They seem to add a special spark to the family.
Good morning, I am headed with some friends in a bit to the lake and jet ski. Anyone who wants to join, is certainly welcome. We have a couple of Xtra ones and someone will bring a boat I am sure. Grab the sunscreen and lets go. I am taking fried chicken and my famous potato salad. I love El Pato hot sauce, on it. Any other kind you want?

Potatoes? I have some Idaho spuds that are bigger than a Volkwagon and still have enough dirt on them to plug up the sink. These spuds are so big, if one fell on you that would be it. As a matter of a fackt, one bounced out of a spud truck on the hiway and started a 53 car pile up! I'll load up 3 of them, that should be enough for 200 people.

I mean I have been to Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, and both the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean, however I have never been sailing. I might like it, as long as I can nap. It seems cool, and I think it would be fun to sail the pacific northwest, boy it's really beautiful up there, so who knows, the only problem is that I sail the S.S. Cardboard.

Its funny, you just named almost all the places I have sailed with the exception of a few big rivers (granted the Detroit River is just a skinny part of Lake St. Clair but the Intracoastal counts as a real river). And you solve the sailing deal as a young person by offering to crew on the SS Realthang and put up with whoever is funding that junket as Captain until you can afford it yourself!

Where is da Mag with doze taters?

I have been to Lake Superior, quite a few times. My family is kind of spread out through Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Illinois, and South Dakota. Then the majority of the rest in Washington and Arizona. But I lived for 13 years in South Dakota, and we lived like just under a half an hour to the Minnesota border, and besides St.Paul and Minneapolis we liked to vacation on Lake Superior. It was some small resort, that was actually really really beautiful, it was up near duluth.Anyways, can some one pass me a tater.

Hey wizz, as far as that 53 car pile up goes, there could have been a cow or two and at least one goat involved. Seems I remember some chickens as well. But it was nasty, real nasty. Speaking of nasty, today my wife and I nearly got killed on the Interstate. We were jammin down the freeway talking and laughing when I noticed cars stopping real fast. I told my wife, she was driving, to stop quick. She began to stop, looked in the rearview and began to speed up again. I freaked and said stop! She said I can't and I knew we were about to get plowed. I just held on and the car behind us went off the freeway onto the shoulder, came back on the freeway sideways, slammed into the back of a semi that was at a complete stop then spun out in the medium. Missed us by a froghair! As we pulled up to a stop I saw there were three ladies in the car and they were banged hard. The car hit the truck just behind the rear passenger window and I just really thought the lady in the back seat was dead. I called 911 as I got out and they asked at which mile marker was the wreck. When I told them they said this wreck had already been reported and I said the wreck ahead of us has been reported but this wreck is a direct result of that wreck and it just happened. I could see the life flight on up the freeway taking them away! We stayed and helped out as much as we could and filled out a report but I'll tell you, shot my day. Came back home and went to bed!

OMG COLDS SUCK. It's really really isn't fun, hope you are feeling better krs. Growing up, I had like pneuomnia for like five straight years, throw in a double pneuomnia every now and again. It was becaused I used to live in South Dakota and it would be like negative 10 and I would be the silly kid running around in the snow without a jacket. Apparently they restricted my ability to make the perfect snowangel. Eitherway I brutally paid for it. Thankfully I moved to California, and now I usually get about one small cold a year, or none at all. Life is good. But I would recommend for foods to eat when you have a cold. Pizza. I know, I know, I know, it sounds stupid, however usually pizza has a ton of nutrients in it, you don't have to cook it, I order mine, and who doesn't like PIZZA! The only downside to my theory is if you lose your tasting ability, because that happens to me sometimes when I get a cold. And it really really pisses me off. Flip side to that however is you don't want to eat. Usually I don't eat when I can't taste, because it's just this boring motonous thing and I want to sleep. Either way, if you can taste order pizza, I am serious it will help, unless you don't like pizza, which then we have a whole new set of problems.
