She's still at it CBW. My goodness that girl. THEN she tries to cover it up with a coffee spoon covered in choclate (not sure how that would ever survive the dishwasher). But just go along with it, that's what good friends do. LOL

There's actually a story behind that... we had a white elephant gift exchange for a New Years Party a couple years ago. It was mostly guys, so I knew I'd end up with something like oil filters as my gift.
So... because I wanted to give something memorable... I got that cookie cutter. And baked some cookies. And decorated them in VERY interesting manners.
Cookie cutter: $4.00
Cookie dough: $4.75
Frosting: $1.50
Watching every guy you know put a "cockie" in his mouth: Priceless.
Allheart
Jan 23, 2007, 09:03 AM
LOL and with Frosting to boot. You go girl!!
JoeCanada76
Jan 23, 2007, 09:07 AM
Sorry, I am not into cookies and cakes and baking stuff like that. Guess I enjoy being a cook and chef and doing lots of fancy stuff. For example: Chicken Cordon blue. On the east coast I used to work in a all you can eat buffet. Lobster, muscles, ham and they had a dining room as well. It was nice working with the chefs. Learn lots of things. Oh and there was this mushroom sauce to die for, it was made with wild mushrooms that the owner would go out and pick himself. He ending up passing away so I have no recipe.
Okay I won't hijack this thread anymore. Lol

I'm good at making the sweet stuff (my high school job was in a bakery) but I can't make too many meals that aren't basic things.

Allheart, only when I let her in the kitchen.
OK so I make a mess, but all blokes do ;)
Synnen
Jan 23, 2007, 09:20 AM
As long as you clean it up again, making a mess isn't so very bad!
My husband and I have a deal... whoever cooks doesn't have to clean up. Which means that since neither of us likes doing dishes, we both try to come up with the best ideas for dinner ;)

My father is american and still lives in the states somewhere? Oh, I won't forget the UK.
P.S. Do you think this would be a good picture to use for my Dr. Evil Passport picture.
HA HA HA
Synnen
Jan 23, 2007, 09:54 AM
Oh wow... that picture rocks.
I forgot about that passport thing. The only time I went to Canada on a regular basis was when we were living Seattle. We'd head up to Vancouver occasionally for Tylenol 3 and booze and Little China.
Hmmm... we'll have to work on this.

Hi guys,
Mr. Allheart is being quite the pest this evening. He says I am not playing with Baby Allheart enough and so my little Maltese is getting fat. It could not be the 99,000 treats he gives her every time she cocks her cute little head.
Got to run the little girl now. Hope to be back. Oh CBW, I want to hear more about this type of kitten.
Hugs to all. (Thanks Ben for the great idea :) I just love it!! One club proud to me a member of :)

Of all conversations to miss, it had to be this mornings. I've been running since 7am. Getting the kids ready for school and off to my dr. appointment. Still holding strong at 3 caffeine cans. Syn, you gave me a visual of your hubby dipped in chocolate. `count me in for the address thing. As for chocolate cheese cake, I can send godiva chocolate cheesecakes. The are better than sex.
As for the laundry basket, I'll pad it for your goddesses heavenly rumps.
Cbw, thank you the visual about the c@@kies. I laughed till my eyes teared.
All heart, your precious. You've got such a witt.
Joe. I hope, you're feeling better, your good humor tells me you're on your way.
How about chocolate covered pretzels? Nothing to put in the dishwasher?
How about the choclate covered rods. I hear they're better than sex;)

I am going to change the topic up a bit.
I think little Joshua is starting to go through the teething stage. All afternoon and evening he has been very cranky, crying lots more then usual. He actually grabbed onto the blanket and he was sucking on it. He was chomping down on my wife's finger. I have this syringe to deliver medicine. I had some gripe water in there and went to put it in his mouth and chomped on it. We do have teething rings and I noticed he had extra extra drooling.
Am I going mad or all these symptoms teething?
Allheart
Jan 23, 2007, 05:43 PM
Oh gosh Joe, I don't know. And Laura is off to bed now. But it sure sounds that way. I am sure the others will pop in to help. Sorry Joe. But I will have the little fella in my prayers. Poor thing. Here's a hug for the little guy.
Signing off now. Everyone have a goodnight.
***little kisses for Joshua****
JoeCanada76
Jan 23, 2007, 05:52 PM
Goodnight everybody. All though I am a night owl and stay up past midnight. :p
It sure sounds like teething to me too. Wow, all these new experiances. I can
Not wait until he has full set of teeth and be able to chomp on that McDonalds
Burger. ;) (Just Kidding) I fed him turkey when he was a month old. Want to start
Him young
Thank you for your prayers for little Joshua, Joshua loves hugs too. He loves lots of kisses. :)
Synnen
Jan 23, 2007, 06:07 PM
Starting him young for everything, hmmm?
That sounds like teething to me too. Dip your finger in some crème de menth and rub it on his gums... it that makes him happier, it's probably teething ;)
So I quit smoking, and now I've started the exercise program. By the time we do the laundry baskets down the winding stairs in Tokyo, I'll be able to do it in a bikini! Yeah!

I think little Joshua is starting to go through the teething stage. All afternoon and evening he has been very cranky, crying lots more then usual. He actually grabbed onto the blanket and he was sucking on it. He was chomping down on my wifes finger. I have this syringe to deliver medicine. I had some gripe water in there and went to put it in his mouth and chomped on it. We do have teething rings and I noticed he had extra extra drooling.
Am I going mad or all these symptoms teething?
Its exactly like teething. Mortin works wonders as well as honey. If he's older than 6 months you can put a small amount on a cotton swab and rub his gums with it. It's a natural anesthetic used a long time ago to treat 3rd degree burns. (my grandmother knew about herbs) a pacifier will help soothe his teethe as they break through. My oldest boy had such a bad time, I actually painted a tiny amount of motrin on the pacifier for a more more quick way to relieve the pain. Just don't give him motrin then paint the pacifier.
Hope this might help.

Starting him young for everything, hmmm?
That sounds like teething to me too. dip your finger in some creme de menth and rub it on his gums....it that makes him happier, it's probably teething ;)
So I quit smoking, and now I've started the exercise program. By the time we do the laundry baskets down the winding stairs in Tokyo, I'll be able to do it in a bikini! Yeah!

It was interesting when we gave him banana flavoured tylenol when we went for his vaccinations. He tried spitting it up and hated the taste. He does the same thing with Gripe water as well. Just does not take well to new flavours. I wonder what it is going to be like with real food? Lloll

Bananna is quite a strong flavour I bet the tylenol tastes vile too lol Millie never minded gripe water or our answer tylenol witch is called calpol its strawberry flavoured.
If I remember rightly millies first taste of real food was carrot and pumpkin purree and pear they pretty much roll there tongue around it and it all comes back out at first but they soon get the taste of it Steer clear of things like caulliflower at first though there just to strong.
Sweet potato is a good one though as it mushes down wonderfully.
Have a look at this site she gives you some fab ideas ;)

BETH'S recipe for chicken cordon bleu:
Bonelss breasts of chicken, cut in the middle then cut to open like a cutlet
Ham from the deli sliced regular cut
Cooper cheese cut the same way
Place ham and cheese in the middle and any seasoning you want but the cheese is sharp and ahould add enough flavor.
Fold over ends so ham and cheese is inside chicken breast.
Put italian shake and bake in a bowl then roll stuffed chicken breasts in mix. Make sure the chicken is completely covered(shake and bake works just as well as bread crumbs do and add more flavor)
Optional tip: spray chicken with olive oil spray this will help seal in shake and bake and gives it a little added flavor
Place on baking sheet and cook on 350 for around 20 minutes depending on your stove.
Let sit for 5 minutes after you pull it out of the oven, then serve.

Happy everybody is doing so well.

Daddy Care centre. Lol
Not quite, but may as well baby sit a bunch of babies. Most of the people I work with are very immature and they are into their gossip and causing trouble and trying to kiss but to get further in their so called career,
I personally do not kiss any butt, and that gets me into trouble..
Do I love it. Nah, not quite.
Hint: Starts with an H.
I changed my thread a little bit.
Oh, ROFLMASOF watching American Idol.

Shew, I don't feel so bad now. I have been trying to quit for 3 months now. I don't think I am doing too bad actually. I only have one when I go out for drinks (which is probably about every 2/3 weeks). I said before I have been smoking hubbly at home. But now that I have been advised how bad that is too, I will be knocking that out!
I also agree that you can't do it cold turkey! Cutting down each week is the way forward!
Good luck guys!

I used to watch to the manor born, faulty towers, Yes minister, butterflies are free. But I haven't had time these days to watch them.

CBW you should be proud of yourself for what you've started. Your thread is close to the 1000 post mark. Plus you've got a lot of people motivated about quitting smoking, eatting fast foods, and lowering their caffeine intake. Maybe we all should take it one the road as motivaional speaks. I usually keep the TV on because I hate total silence. I only watch a couple of shows anyway.
I've been more into putting a book together about who I am. As a way to get to know who I am. I use pictures frommagazines and draw a few as well. It gives me pleasure to do that and I remember things I haven't thought of in a long while. Plus the boys will have as a legacy later on.
I also keep a journal where I write when I'm troubled about something. I've noticed once I've written in it I feel better. I've also noticed that I haven't gone back to read what I wrote and those are under lock and key so no one can read them. Soon I'm going to have enough for a bon fire. We could have when the laundry ride officially opens.

I don't like the idea of destroying the written word, really. Someone, somewhere, could probably benefit from your words!
I, too, write when I'm upset. I try to write other times, too, but if I'm not upset I find myself too busy to sit down with a pen. Writing is a focus for me, to get past that brain-stop that happens when I'm upset.
CBW... you are the best for starting this. I've made some excellent friends, I've learned a lot, and best of all--I haven't smoked a single cigarette.

As for the book burning thingy, I understand your point. But for me its liberating. Sort of like walking through the door to a new outlook on life. I do have one that maybe someone could benefit from.. the ones marked for burning no one should read. Its where I put the bad stuff to rest in peace. It's good that you're not selfish, though ;)

This weather is killing my skin. I have electric heat and even with a humidifier it's still irritated. I love spring and fall here in New Jersey because I don't need the heat or the a/c which is just as bad. Benefit cosmetics make a moiturizer called Dr. John and it seems to help it. Oh, Laura, you and EBAY!!!!!! LOL:D
I quit. It was hard but in a very weird way kid of fun. After 23 years of not smoking I see my life now as a time before I smoked and after. My wife and I quit together. That helped. We did the smoke enders program at a local hospital. We would go every night after work for 30 minutes and we were given a new brand to smoke and a new (an lower ) quantity t smoke. We had to document every cig that we smoked. When we smoked it, where, did we enjoy it, was it after a meal, before bed etc. By week three we were down to three cigs a day and on brands that were so low, Carlton etc that we were basically nicotine free. In the process of quitting they taught us that nicotin is one of the most addictive chemicals on earth, more than cocaine! It was a process of ridding our bodies of nicotine and teaching our bodies how to live without it. IT takes about 3 weeks for your body to be free of the physical effects and cravings for the drug. After the three weeks are up it is all down to a mental pattern of addiction that you can break. We were shown how to replace the good feeling of a cig with other feelings. What you are doing by quitting is killing one of are your best friends you have ever had. A friend who is always there for you whenever you are down or excited or just need a break. If you can learn to see and live to the idea that they are not your buddies, your friends but are robbin you of your youth, your dignity and in many ways yourself. Go wayback to the first time you smoked. The reason you smoke now has nothing to do with those reasons does it? Remember the thoughts and dreams you had as a kid. All those things are still there. Replace you addiction and dig up one of those childhood dreams and make it happen. Until you admit to yourself that you are wiling to kill this buddy, to divorce yoursekf from this drug, that you are not simply obstaining from smoking but are truly a non smoker you can not succede. Haing said all this I will tell you that I am a weak willed person, I am not strong in my ability to stick to things but I did this thing. To this day it is one thing in my life that I am truly proud of. Realize that every now and then after 23 years of not smoking I will find myself (maybe twice a year) just for a moment looking around for something. Then I realize that I was looking for my cigs. I take a deep breath and look back fondly at my success.
Good luck , you can do this when you are ready. Ti really takes 21 days of controlled withdrawl with educated support and modivation.

Glad I could help. It take about 21 -26 days to rid your self of most any drug. Get a calendar and x off the days. Be gentle to yourself this is hard. Reward yourself with a walk to a special place. Go somewhere that is new to you. Explore where you live, voluenteer more, clean the trucnk of your car, make a snowman. Learn to play the claranet. While all those thing sound kind of weird and disjointed they are all possibilites of discovering the non smoker who is emerging. 9 days is GREAT, every day will be just a little eaiser. Replace you craving with physical activity. Your real cravings will be gone by Spring. Plan a garden and see it as your vistory garden. Dring loads of water right now. Eat loats of carrots and sweet potatoes. Any orange vegetable. The chemicals in those foods help calm your bodies cravings for nicoten.
Men tend to go a bit nuts when they quit, more then women. Best to line up fun physical activities. I dug a giant hole in the back yard, no kidding. If you take walks together that is a good start.
Think about this the next time you really have a strong craving as k yourself one question. Do you ever want to feel like this or go through this process again? One cigarette, just one and you are back to square one? You are a non smoker now. Go into the bathroom right now, look yourself in the mirror, really really look, get your face right up there. Wait until you see yourself, 1 minute minimum, then say out loud, I am a non smoker, I am a non smoker, I am a non smoker. It sounds dumb and you might feel a little silly but it really does work. Don't be a little surprised if you cry a little , that's OK. You just met someone you haven't seen in years!
Keep going.

Bg - oooh Thank you again. I did tear up reading what you wrote, but with a smile. The mirror thing will have to wait for just an hour or so, just got up and me hair is just a bit of a mess. But I will do it :).
I will eat lots of oranges (will that help? )
Exactly why I will NOT pick up a cig. No way, do I want to have to go through all this again. Oh no! And No way. I started weaning down Dec 29 and reached for a day and then 9 days ago I stopped completely. Thanks to my new friends on this thread :)
The terrible thing is, and I felt so bad, but the other day, I saw a lady outside smoking and honest to Pete, that split second I thought, that looks ridiculous. I wasn't judging her, it was just the instant mental thought that I had. I felt terrible for thinking that afterwards.
Yes, I am getting the gear ready for when hubby starts. I just hope I can be strong for him. No, I will be strong for him :)
Oh thank you so much again. I just know, the others will appreciate it as well.
I know you must enjoy your success every day you awake. Good for you :)

It is a great thing that you saw the lady smoking outside as a rediclus thing because it is. No one starts smoking thinging that they will end up smoking out in the cold by the garbage cans for no real reason. When your husband is ready to join you he will. For me it was an adventure of self discovery that worked. You should like a non smoker, you will make it!
Off to bed, sun up in just a few hours for me.

(I've averaged at leat 6-7 cans a day prior)
ALLHEART, the cravings will lessen the longer you don't smoke. Why not get the gum. When you have acraving chew a piece of the gum. It worked for me. As long as you aren't doing a patch or anything ele that contains nicotine. That should help.

Like BG, I feel really fortunate to have finally quit after many frustrating and failed attempts. I had to come to an understanding that I was literally in a fight of my life and to make it a priority just like that. This last time I was willing to DO WHAT IT TAKES!
It does get easier as BG said. I noticed a remarkable easiness setting in at about ninety days. I was using the patch and cutting them into smaller and smaller sizes until it was about the size of a dime by then. At ninety days, I was no longer even thinking about cigs and smokers didn't turn my head either. I quit thinking I couldn't and it was a big big boost to the esteem to have succeeded. I like how clean everything is AND I did some cool things with all the money I saved too. I kept two patches just in case, swearing to myself that if I ever get the notion to light up again, I would slam that patch on so fast LOL. Just a few years ago, I finally threw them out as they were old at that point.
So ladies, one day at a time, keep putting off that one ciggy and you will be amazed at what eventually comes to pass. It does get easier and easier, I promise.

Morning you!
I'm probably not going to be posting much today... I'm swamped here at work, plus I'm feeling all sorts of crabby.
Good job on staying on the Top Branch yet another day!

People who are quitting get to be all sorts of crabby sometimes -- just make sure its not too much to the boss, okay? LOL
I had to give up coffee at first too. It was such "ciggy hook" for me. Talk about CRABBY!! So please, have all the temper tantrum you like on us. We'll understand.
PS - Coffee tastes even better now but it took a while before I got it back.

Well, ol' cutie Millies is in good company, me thinks! I too loved boxes as a wee one. Open the brithday present and set aside the item whilst I played in the box LOL. My parents were so miffed by it, they threatened to wrap up big empty boxes for gifts for me. Oh and Allheart, laundry baskets were tempting too. LOL

Omg did I really start something with the laundry basket down the stairs.
Christine, that's my favorite color by the way.
Lauren, when you mail Millie to me make sure she has holes poked in the box and plenty of cheese puffs to keep her happy . The problem is once I get her (hehe) I may just keep her.
I'm doing just fine today. Hubby went for a hair cut and the boys are in school. I have a few errands to run and plan on treating myself to lun ch for staying at 3 cans of caffienated cola.
Syn, pop in when you can. You know someone is always here.
Val, welcome to the branch with us. The more the merrier.
Joe, I hope you're feeling better and I hope your little guy is doing better with teething. I'll also accept him by mail too.
We're talking more about each other and ourselves than we are about smoking. Were on the right track and I couldn't be happier or prouder of everyone here. Just think lauren of all the inspiration you're offering by what you started. In have a godive chocolate cheese cake with your name on it.
(psssst don't tell ben, but its better than sex):p
