Thank you so much. Honest to Pete (whoever he is ) it is because of this thread and what you said this morn Laura. Way to go with your 0. Proud to be standing with you. Thanks so much.

I just did a naughty naughty. But I meant well. Single4 has a thread under collectibles going. And she asked what everyone collects. Since she has been MIA on this thread (she, I think is supposed to stop smoking tomorrow, if I remember correctly), I popped in on her thread and responded, that I just started a collection... a collection of how many days I have not smoked... I asked her if she care to join me... hee hee.. Hope she doesn't mind, it was a friendly loving nudge.:p

LOl hee hee... Oh I just love it.

And I think for your incredible accomplishment... of quitting smoking... for all eternity, would it not be fitting that an eternity ring be given to you to symbolize this incredible accomplishement.. (hee hee how'd I do :)

Synnen
Jan 17, 2007, 10:34 AM
Omg... I am so passing that thought on to my husband!

Actually, I think if I make it 6 months, there's already a heck of a prize waiting for me. Plus--who knows? Maybe this will be all it takes for us to get pregnant!

But... now I want an eternity band too.

curlybenswife
Jan 17, 2007, 10:38 AM
LOL Synnen your supposed to get a eternity band when you produce the first child but that's like a year and a half ago and no ring I tell you what there are a lot of men out there that could learn from that and get there acts together lol.

OOOOO are you quiting smoking to help you conceive??

Allheart I thinkyou for trying but I can almost garrentee it will fall on def ears he has about as much romance in him as a pile of horse poop lol

Synnen
Jan 17, 2007, 10:54 AM
Yes... we've been trying (with just charting ovulation and home methods) for about 3 years now.

We probably need to start consulting a fertility expert, but... that's very expensive, and not covered by insurance. So this is kind of our last effort at this before we start making major financial decisions.

Take the stick to him! It will help him remember romance! I promise! (It really just makes my husband laugh, but hey... whatever works)

curlybenswife
Jan 17, 2007, 12:14 PM
AAAWWWW hunn I wish you the best of luck have you tried anything like clomid? Im sure you know more about all that than I can ever imagine.

Stay strong hunn xxxxx

Synnen
Jan 17, 2007, 12:29 PM
Honestly, we haven't tried anything (other than practicing!) Most places that you can get reliable information charge for it. I've heard so many stories (some of them contradicting) on the web that I'm almost afraid of the whole thing!

In any case, I'll be saving money not smoking, so I can justify paying people for outrageous tests and opinions.

curlybenswife
Jan 17, 2007, 12:43 PM
Clomid is perscribed by your norma dr no idea how much it would be over there but hell go ask my friend jo tried for 4 years to no avail and after a month of clomid bang she fell with her son.

Synnen
Jan 17, 2007, 12:46 PM
Nice! One thing my doc did say is that smoking is the number one cause of infertility. She didn't want to go forward with anything else until we quit first.

How are you holding out today? Still at 0?

curlybenswife
Jan 17, 2007, 12:55 PM
Oh yes 0000000000 lol and I don't even fancy one.

Yeah and those that fall pregnant and still smoke are not only putting there unborn baby at risk but themselves also. So good on you for stopping {{{{{{hugs}}}}}}

Synnen
Jan 17, 2007, 02:13 PM
You're such a sweetie!

Grats on the 0! That's wonderful! Just remember to hold out when that craving comes back, because YOU are better than a nasty old habit! (if nothing else, remember that I was a 2 pack a day girl, and I held out against those demons! You can too!)

curlybenswife
Jan 17, 2007, 03:13 PM
Hope everyone's had a good day and Allheart you managed to stick with that 0 lots of hugs xxxx

Allheart
Jan 17, 2007, 05:55 PM
Oh hugs everyone... Yes, so far Allheart has held on to 0. Oh my. What a day.

First Synnen, special prayers for you and hubby.. & enjoy the practicing ;)

Okay, if I didn't smoke today, then I think I may never. Hubby and I decided that having 2 cars just is not practicle. I drive maybe twice a week and we ride in together. Keep in mind I just got my drivers license not even a year ago. Anyway, we traded in both cars for one car. Which is the smart thing to do. But oh how I cried handing in the keys. It was my baby that got me through the driving test and all. I am so grateful to that little car. But I am even more pleased that we now will only have one car payment and hopefully insurance will be a lot less. Hubby misses his SUV as well, but for once, we are using are heads.

Soooo during all the back and forth with the carsalesman and manager, Allheart wanted a cigy so bad, but thinking of all of you gave me such strength. I want one so bad right now, but not going to do it. We were at the car dealer from 1200 to 7pm. They are really nice there, but still they can make your head spin.

Sorry for rambling on.

Hope all of you had a great day. Lots of hugs and thank you so much for keeping me strong.

So proud of all of you.

(CBW thanks for being such an angel :)

Synnen
Jan 17, 2007, 07:33 PM
Grats on the new car! That's wonderful! We went through it a couple years ago, and I know how they can make your head spin... so good job on not lighting up!

I'm so proud of all of you!

Good Morning everyone,

How's everyone doing? Here's to another day 0. Chippers how did you do with the soda?

Laura, I just love being on that branch with you, thanks for making room :)

Well, the car that we bought is new to us, but actually is a 2005. I am very grateful for it, we both are a little sad about letting go of the other two. They were very good to us and held lots of memories. I even cried a little this morn. It's not the material thing, it's just the memories. Geez, there are people starving in the world and I am shedding a tear for a car. Shame on me. Sorry Guys.

Here's to a wonderful day for all. Sending lots of hugs.

It was a friendly nudge. Not a sermon on the evils of smoking. I'm sure she took it as it was meant in a friendly way.

My hushabd and I went on vacation and forgot everything. A bottle of asti and a year later we had Ryan aka #2. I heard the alcohol content increases the woman's vaginal secretions and makes it easier for the dad to be. (they get all the luck)

All heart I can relate. I cried when I watched my "special" car go down the road on the back of a tow truck. It had special memories and it was the first car I bought on my own. But as you said you have the memories. You can't worry about the world just your little corner of it. The fact you went through that trying time with out lighting up says allot aout your strenth and will ppower.

Cbw, how did it feel to not going down for a pack of cigs? I'm guessing it felt good and empowering too. Knowing you resisted temptation does make you feel stronger and if not a little bit more proud of yourself.

No one who hasn't been through the actual quitting and the withdraw have no idea the tremendous effort it takes. Not to mention the struggle. Its like learning new habits all over again. But we know the ends are worth it. So even with the jokes and the fun we take it seriously not just for ourselves but for everyone on this tread.

Just remember there's nothing wrong with wanting one. You can want one and remember how far we've come since Saturday. So far almost a week. Soooooooo chocolate roses for everyone.
Think of all the money you're saving on cigs, lighters breath mints. Your teeth will get whiter and not to mention your clothes will smell nicer too. Cbw, hun, you're setting such a good example for millie. Evenif she doesn't realize it yet.(maybe if she did she wouldn't be such and itch at night) for that I'm giving you the golden pacifier.

Keep up the good work. I'm inspired by you guys. So far I had 3 cans yesterday and one today. Chippers

Synnen
Jan 18, 2007, 07:13 AM
Ugh. I'd LOVE to know why adults don't get the energy that kids have. HOw are we supposed to keep up?

Just remember, CBW... part of how tired you are is nicotine withdrawal. It really does mess with your sleep.

Only 3 yesterday, Chippers? That's awesome! Great job!

I had a huge fight with a co-worker yesterday, and it's making me think about leaving my job. The urge to light up today is sooooo bad I just want to cry. So... keep me in your thoughts, and don't cave! We're all doing great, and we're better than a bad habit!

curlybenswife
Jan 18, 2007, 07:40 AM
AAAAWWWWW Synnen hunny don't you let that bully you, you stand tall and don't you get lighting up either I won't if you won't OK.

Im tierd for a medical reason too but I'm not going into that here its rather yucky, but even when I'm feeling on top of the world she knackers me out my word the girl doesn't stop.

Sending you big big hugs xxxxxxx

Synnen
Jan 18, 2007, 07:44 AM
I swear to you... if we could harvest the energy of 2 year olds around the world, we'd never have a power crisis again. They GLOW with energy!

I don't blame you for being tired... I spend 2 hours with my 2 year old niece and feel like I need to sleep for 2 days!

I won't if you won't! I promise!

(thanks for the hugs... I felt them all the way around the world here)

Hee Hee... that wasn't a "Naughty Naughty"!:p I have been popping in  on this thread to check on everyone's progress daily and I guess I feel a little WEAK! You all are doing so wonderful and I feel like a big PUSS!!

I get paid today so I am going to go pick up my prescription to quit smoking. Yes... yous can say it... you all have the will power to stop without help of drugs but I feel I need it! It has an appetite suppressant in it allso. Everyother time that I've quit for a month to 3 months, I racked on some weight.:o (Being single yet and 32 scares me. There are a lot of men who want to date skeletons). I know I've talked about the drug in the beginning of this thread already... sorry!

My day is TOMORROW... (1/19/07), which is the "first day of the rest of my life".

Allheart... I do appreciate the nudge. I will need nudging from time to time! Also, if and when you need my "nudge", I will also nudge you back:D !

Ooooooooooh Single 4... so happy to see you... lots and lots of hugs... and one more friendly nudge. Oh scuuuuzy, but my dear, I am soooo not one of the strong ones. Doc gave me the same meds as you. I am on day 6 of the medicine pack. Chantrix right?
And I want to smoke more with it... ahhhhhh. However, the doc said it won't start to kick in until the second week (which for me is this Sat). This Sat, was to be my quit date. When you start the pack, they want you to pick a quit date, which should be 7 days after you start the meds. But I wanted to join my girls on the top branch, so I started no cigs yesterday.

Oh Single glad I didn't pester you :). Here's a hug and we will be ringing your doorbell again, hee hee.

Many hugs again

I should seriously turn you guys loose on her. She's just not fun to work with.

She's quitting smoking too, though...so I should go easier on her, but somehow I'm too much of a beach to do so.

Oh Synnen, then I need to be kind to her as well. Tell Miss Muphet that it would help, if she stood next to people who were smoking, drank lots of caffine, and alcohol, and kept cigaretts with her at all times as well as a lighter. This surely will help her to quit smoking.

Hee hee hee... I so bad. Tell Ms. Muphet no charge for the advice and to be sure and let us know how she is progressing... hee hee. ( I am being so naughty, well she started it by picking with our Synnen, so there !)

Synnen
Jan 18, 2007, 08:45 AM
Lol! You rock!

She was hard to work with before we all started quitting (the boss offered everyone $500 to quit for 30 days... who could turn that down?) but now it's downright miserable!

I'd pass on your advice, but she might hide my body someplace no one could find it.

Yes we GODDESSES are the best. I've never met such a group of women like you all are. I did feel sluggish yesterday and had a whopper of a headache. But I knew that was coming. All heart you rock. Single, hun you need to quit any way you can. If that means meds then do what you need to. Synnen as for your co-worker, if she's being a little stinker, then you need to find your center and think about that. Think of all you're doing on this tread. Maybe we are like a band of eternity. We keep each other going. Focus on that and don't let her get to you.
Cbw, did you really think your tread would get such attention. Good for you by lighting the fire under everyone.

Ps, I'd print all hearts letter to your co worker and post on your computor. The let the fun begin.

I want all of you to keep in touch with me... because if we all stay at our goals for 6 months, I'm so sending prizes out to you! (don't be surprised if your "prize" is just a pretty pebble I found in the river, though... I'm still poor!)

I also used to get asked if we sold packs of ten and there was all we sold right there behind me in packs of twenty I got so ed off on the day I was due to leave the company that I cut a pack of twenty in half and said yes have ten arsehole.

I don't do customer service anymore surprisingly enough...

She'd go right to sleep for me. We'd be busy all day, doing things like going to the zoo and playing in the snow and running a marathon and playing with the kitties and basically I'd just wear her out. Because that's all I know how to do.

If that didn't work, I'd resort to cartoons. Yeah. Because we KNOW that kids just fall asleep watching TV, right?

Hi ladies!

When I got to work this morning I jumped on AMHD right away and posted a comment on this thread. After I posted... I logged out and did some work. Right before noon I tried to log in again and...:mad: WEBSENSE BLOCKED ME!! The company I work for does that every so often. They go through there system and see what everyone is looking up on the internet and if they don't like what you are looking up... they will block it!! WHAT WOULDN'T THEY LIKE ABOUT THIS SIGHT:mad: ... LOL!! Can you tell that I am upset?!

Anyway, I am at my parents on the internet and I wanted to let you all know since tomorrow IS MY BIG DAY OF QUITTING and you yous may think I "went over the edge" since I won't be able to chat with you all! I will check AMHD on the weekends and speratically during the week (my parents live 15 miles away so not real convenient!)

You know that it is not fair that I now have to give up two additions... cigs and AMHD!!

Well... good luck to you all and I've been keeping you all in my prayers! I KNOW THIS TIME WE CAN ALL DO IT!!

MUCH LOVE TO YOU ALL AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!

Oh laura, I'm so sorry to hear that.. my heart just broke. 2 weeks before christmas I had to do the same thing to my cat Tabs. So I know how it feels. My youngest is still dealing with it and took it hard. We bought him a special christmas present where we can make a garden memorial plaque with her name and we can decorate it. We'll be planting special flowers for her and the boys have the winter to decide which ones they want to plant.
just keep in your mind (and your very big heart) you did what was best for her. Keep in mind she was a valued family member and kept her from suffering. You're doing a great job with the 00 cigis. I'm proud to know you. Not to mention thank you for giving me the chance to chat with all of you. :) :)

Good morning all GODDESSES!

I hope everyone had a good night. I woke up with a headache and a battle worthy enough to raise the roof off the house. We had a little snow here in jersey yesterday and it sprinkled a little last night. The boys thought they had no school today and refused to budge out of bed. I was in no mood to reason so I went directly to threat. If they didn't get out of bed and get ready they were going to school in their pjs. For my oldest it was an especially bad thing since he took his shower in the morning, his would be wet.. . they got up quickly. They knew mom was in no mood. My head was pounding. I took motrin and within 30 minutes I felt better and apologised for being so nasty. They'll get pizza for dinner tonight.
the cafeine detox has made me a little (okay a lot) moody. And tired. My doc said to keep up the good work and that this would pass soon. So, like you ladies, I'm sticking with it. I know I'll feel better in the long run.

all heart, that puppy is precious. I fell in love with those big brown eyes. No one could deny him a buscit.
syn, I know I'm evil that's part of my charm. Stand tall. Her nastiness has nothing on your kind sweet nature.
I'm going out today and getting a hair cut. My reward for weaning off caffiene. As you ladies should do the same. This completes a week. So you have everyright to reward yourselves.
as for you single, Post when you can, we'll be here. Reward yourself too for getting serious. Remember each person as to quit in their own way. It's a personal choice. The fact you made it, makes you deserving of self indulgence.

I LOVE YOU ALL chocolate roses to everyone.

I had no idea when I typed this thred that I would gain three amazing women to help me on my path to smokeless freedom I love you all dearly for your support and long may it carry on we have a long path ahead of us that we must all reach the end together.

Syn that is a great idea. About the tee shirts. We can call ourselves smoke busters. A cigi with the circle and line through it. Like ghost busters. Cbw, you know the unwritten rule of parenting, sleep when they do. Someone emailed me a little note about women and it rains true. Our one flaw is that we underestimate our worth. I believe it. Men are just starting to understand how strong we women really are. Keep in mind God gave us the responsibility of childbirth not men. Pound for pound women are stronger than men.

My doctor is sort of like a naturalist. It almost kills him to hand out a prescription. I seen him yesterday. That is how I found out my second ear is infected and now I have bronchitis. He did not want to change the medication I am on. He just told me to stay home rest and lots of fluids.

I might go to another doctor today, or tomorrow at the clinic. I know they will give me something better. I know I have to be really careful especially with this kind of infection. Thank you for you thoughts and help.

Oh Joe, you little bunny you!! You are so 75!! Tell the truth. Hee, hee.

Good Morning my Dear CBW.

How's the spirits today?

Back from the market, just need to put the stuff away and get a couple things under way before the "King" arises. Hee, hee.

Not feeling 100% here today. Today I started the second pack of the medicine. Today was to be my quit day, but I was too impatient and wanted to join my friends on the top branch sooner :).

But I think the medicine is now stronger with the second week and I am not liking it at all. I had to injest about 95 crackers, may have been 96 just to combat the nautious feeling.
Really would love to stop the medicine and I think I can do it without it. But I don't want to mess around with just stopping it. If the side effects get worse, and I am sure they will as the levels increase, I'll call the doc and see if I can just stop.

I still have a slight urge to smoke physically, but mentally I want no parts of it. Guess that's a good thing.

How's your day going?

Jan 20, 2007, 06:31 AM

Good day GODDESSES. How is everyone. I'm still at three cans and holding. I feel better today than I did yesterday. Even the cats went to hide from me then.
Joe, you need to find a new duck. Errrrrrrr I mean doc. Does anyone else see how similar that is. Duck / doc? Oh well.
Hubby is away this weekend. I'm finishing up on laundry and just chilling till I take the kids to the movies.
It's Saturday and we've made it a week. It went by fast.
Allheart, check with yout doc about the medication. Maybe you need to be at the first level longer. As for the stomach trouble. My husband turned me onto wonton soup and white rice. Just the broth and rice will curb it. I've even given it to my kids when their tummies are upset. It really works. Even on morning sickness.

I got a different quak quak. I went to the emergency this morning. I could not believe the record time. When I went on Monday I was there for 5 hours. Today I was in and out within 40 minutes. The doctor told me that there is lots of puss and fluids behind my ear drum and there is a chanch it could bust, but he gave me the top of the line antibiotics for the infection. He said it is obvious the other stuff is not working. I also told him I was taking advil cold and sinus and he said well that will actually make your ear infection worse.

Clarithromycin is the name. Apparently it is good for everything infections, strep, bronchitis, ear, and so many other things. Too bad I was not given that at the beginning then maybe it would not have gone so far. He also gave me something to clear up the sinuses.

Hoping this will do its job. Doctor called it the antibiotic potent.

Oh my dear sweet Laura.

Do that... make an appt. See what the doc has to say. There is no reason for you to have to suffer. The market, from what I have been reading has got quite smart in this area.

With the meds that I am on, that is one thing I don't feel is touchy. So maybe the meds are working.

Oh honey, it's okay. Just tell yourself this awful mood is well worth it. I love you lots!!

Stay on this top branch with me. I am afriad of heights :(

Hey Laura, that's a great idea. You can get stuff done and little Mille can burn off some of that energy.

What did I accomplish. Not a whole lot. Just an expert at eating crackers. Hey, does AMHD need a Cracker Expert. Hmmm Can I get that added to my name.. hee hee lOL

Oh your doing good there Laura. As long as you know who stays under the stairs... way too funny.

I'm the one usually wanting to hide out around here. With three males Im out numbered. At least tthey think I am. Ive gone up to the attic where no one can follow. And just sit up there and read some times. Millie sounds like my youngest boy Ryan. I used to block off the living room while I was cleaning and let him wear himself out. He's 7 and still like a rocket. We've started calling him flash.
Laura, honey you need to do whatever you can to achieve your goal. Ben, hang in there with our girl. She may not feel to happy but its for the best she get through this. And you're doing great yourself. Trust me I'm officially warned.
My hubbt took the high road and went on drill with the army while I'm detoxing fromcaffiene. He in his infinite wisdom has left me alone with the terrible two. That doesn't make me want soda but a stiff drink. Toottles Beth

Oh laura, not a problem. I was up late paying bill online. I just wanted to pop in for a moment. The monkeys had their bananas and slept in their trees. I'm glad you got some sleep and millie behaved herself. Hope everyone else is still on the top branch. I caqn't be there alone cause I'm scared of heights. I'm still holding at 4 cans. I fake myself out by filling the cup with ice. Makes me think I'm drinking more coca cola than I really am. So I'm happy there. My next thing is to cut the sugar by slowly going to more diet coke. The fact I can drink myself fatte scares the daylights out of me.
Good day to all my fellow GODDESSES.

Sorry Ben, it doesn't seem right calling you a goddess, but I'm working on it.

Chippers, way to go again with the 4. We are holding on tightly to you on this top branch. Diet coke is my absolute favorite. Is that what you are drinking now. Great idea with the ice. Can you put water in it too?

Feeling a bit down myself - but I will shake it off. Not terribly down, just not me. But the sun will come out tomorrow :). Ugh, I make myself sick.. hee hee.

Ahhhhhh cap, were constantly thinking of puppy. If we fall off, we screw her over for her treats:eek:
ALLheart, its okay to feel down once in a while. If it'll help think of all us goddesses together wearing grecian gowns and our hair decorated with flowers as we dance to our success in cbw's garden.:D
I' d doubt you falling off the branch would happen. Not with me holding on to your ankle. I don't do the water, but I've frozen water bottles, let them thaw a bit and add those lipton flavor packs as the ice melts the flavor stays the same. I've mixed regular diet coke with caffiene free diet coke (same with coke) to wean off the caffiene more. Each time I did it, I added more of the caffeine free than the regular.
I caught the monkeys (or oldest monkey) on the family man's web site and he's n ot happy I took the computor away from him for the rest of the day. My little one the orangatan decided to pile blankets at the bottom of the stairs and jump off the top step. He wasn't happy getting grounded either.
Syn has so much to look forward to. Between tales of Millie and Devon and Ryan, she should really be looking forward to having kids. And I hope she succeeds. I couldn't imagine my liefe without them or you fellow goddesses.

I'm starting to like this branch more and more each day. I guess its because I'm not allone up here. That really feels good to me.

It wouldn't be the first time I've played ambulance driver and rushed to hospital. They see me coming and refer to their blood type as the usual. 3 years ago my oldest decided to place blankets on the couch and booggie boarded off the sofa. He broke his arm in three places. Six hours later and major surgery, he had his arm surgically pinned. The doc could not keep a straight face whenever he talked about it. He said he'd been a surgeon for 20 years and my son was his first boogie board accident. Not too soon after that, ( I swear, the guardian angels are working over time with these 2) . I was doing laundry and hear wheeeeeeeee, thump thump thump and a lot of laughter,my youngest used my clothes basket to sled down the stairs. I was a basket case. I can't describe how I felt. I just knew I could'nt move. If I did he would've really needed a doctor.
Allheart, I'llbe popping in tomorrow to say Hi. And seeing how everyone is doing.
With those two kids, you think I would hang on to everyone?
I've already been on this branch before. I can make sure you stay on.

You know... I'm TERRIFIED of falling. Like... I can't stand on a chair to hang things on the wall terrified. It's an actual phobia with me, with the panic attacks and everything. Not heights, just falling. And I want to do the stairs in a laundry basket too.

Please?

Yesterday was awful... I searched this entire apartment for a smoke. Smart hubby got rid of them... but I was going to be bad. I wasn't, because I couldn't find any, but I *wanted* to so badly.

Glad to hear you're all still hanging in there!

chippers
Jan 21, 2007, 10:54 PM
Oh god I've really started something. I'll open my own thrill ride. Just bring crash helmets. I'll let ryan teach everyone and promise not to ground him.
Oh syn, I can imagine what it was like wanting one so badly. Give hubby a kiss for cleaning out the secret stashes. It's okay to want one. But I wonder if it wasn't a relief when there were none to be found. Cause I think if you wanted one that badly, you would've gone out to get them. But you didn't. As with all addictions, there's a little anxiety when we first realize we've been without them. The cigis were our security blanket, to help relieve our times of stress. Being without them we have to create new habits. But If I haven't already said it, I'm very proud of you Syns. It took strength to admit you wanted one rather than needed one. There is a difference
Mothers and families can be trying on the nerves. (trust me on this one). Maybe because we're so closely intuned we know what buttons to push. But you'll bave a five hour drive to relax and prepare. Here's a mantra to keep saying over and over again to help see you through.
"I AM A WOMAN FULL OF SPIRIT, FULL OF LIFE AND LIFE GIVING. I EMBODY ALL AROUND ME AND I AM A GODDESS DIVINE".
Plus there is your other family here who will be waiting for you. As for being afraid of heights. I am not letting go. I've been on this branch and I know how to hold on.
If the mantra doesn't work, we'll send your mother down the stairs in the basket.

Love you lotss Beth

Synnen
Jan 21, 2007, 11:02 PM
LOL... that made me laugh!

Actually, I love my mother. She's one of my best friends, now that I'm an adult. It's the REST of my family that I could do without. Greedy conniving annoying people!

My mom needs my help though (my parents are moving out of the house I grew up in to another state, and my mom is panicking), so unless the weather is bad, I'll be heading over. If it's snowing though, she can do it herself. What should have been a 5 hour trip was 9 hours when we went home for Christmas, due to the snow.

All right, I'm off to bed. Talk to my fellow goddesses tomorrow from work!

Just cheering everybody on. Not going to take over the thread like that teenager one day that must have been let loose on the computer. All his posts were erased anyway. No one probably even remembers.

Okay, Now I do have an addiction for you which I have been struggling with. I know it might sound silly. Here goes:

FOOD.

Yes, I have a hard time resisting that Mcdonalds meal sometimes or eating out or eating in. Both my wife and I find it hard making all homemade food now that the little one is here, but we just made a deal.

No more café food from work, no more restaurant food, no more take out, no more delivery. Nothing but from the grocery store for ONE WHOLE YEAR!

Anyway, I hope you all have a great day, and did not mean to hijack the thread lol.

Hey, you and your wife can hang out with us on the top branch. We all stand together. You guys can do this. Every time you give in to those awful greasy fast food burgers, you just lust us know, and then one of us gets to light up :) Deal? WoW that may not be fair, but we have poor Harely on our mind, so in comparison, we went "light" on you (no pun intended)

Today, for some reason, the urge to smoke is increasing. What the heck is with that? Thank God for all of you and mentally I am so strong. But the urge is increasing not decreasing.

I just love you guys. Many hugs.

Heck you could even do the cook off thing at the weekend and freeze yourselves up portions your going to have to start doing that for little man soon enough anyway so your better off getting into the swing of it now lol.

You could be anxious about not having a cigi all heart. That sometimes happens. You're passed the withdrawl and now your cravings are kicking in and are a little strong now. Stick with it hun, soon they'll get the messege that you mean business.
Ah joe, he's a dorable. I have 2 boys myself and I sooooooooo know the pull of that food. I would suggest caution and to wean yourself off it gradually. Depriving so much so fast will only lead to binging and going hog wild. Either way you do it, you know what's best for you and we'll make room for you on the branch for you and the wife.
Fast food is an addiction all to it self. My personal weakness are hashbrowns and kfc mashed potatoes.
I applaud you for doing this. You're not only trying to cut back but also setting a good example for that beautiful little boy.

LUv
chippers

Ps: I do know who you're talking about. That kid that kept leaving one word replies and I let him have it. This is a wonderful web site and It doesn't help when someone like that comes in and trashes all your good work.

The cook off idea works great cbw. I do it all the time. If I go to the grocers and get meat and chiken, I'll cook it up then freeze it. Even ground beef can be cooked up and have eady for tacoes or adding into speghetti sauce, even that can be frozen in zip lock bags. Carrots can be cut up and have at the ready for snacking. Those 100 calorie snack packs are a God send. My kids love them. Frozen veggies are good and quick to get ready.(I spend too much time at home). But just a few things to get you going.

See and you thought you were hijacking the thread Joe. Shame on you:p

Allheart... I warned you that it would get worse! The next few days are going to be AWFUL for you... hang in there! We're goddesses. We all stopped having birthdays at 25 (for the insurance thing)

Hang in there my ladies! (and gents, for Joe and Harley)

Crying is okay... Lord knows I've done enough of it the last few weeks.

Keep strong!

(Maybe we can find a hotel in Tokyo that will let us do laundry baskets down the stairs!)

Thank you so much! You guys crack me up!! I'm dancing around the office cause I get to use the laundry basket first... hee hee.

Synnen way too funny. A hotel in Tokyo that will let us do laundry baskets... crack me up!

SSSSSSHHHHHHH I've canceled the 5th hehehehehehe

Can I go down the stairs on a tin tray chipper that was always such fun when I was small lol

Millie has just gone down for a nap and I'm heading there too my heads pounding and its not nice (woo is me) lol

So what's everyone cooking tonight?
Us its chicken stir fry with the left over roast chicken from yesterday lol nothing to thrilling.

Synnen
Jan 22, 2007, 08:06 AM
Tonight is um... I don't know. I made soup this weekend, and we kind of ate it all weekend, instead of saving it for this week, so there's not much left.

Plus, all of my credit cards were stolen last week, along with my checkcard... so I can't stop at the store until I get my new ones!

I think maybe Campbell's soup or PB&J are on the menu at my house.

Tin tray? Like the top of a TV tray? Is this Brit-speak for something I should actually know about?

Allheart
Jan 22, 2007, 08:09 AM
Oh synnen, how were they stolen. That's a sin. What a hassle I am sure.

Yup CBW, us too, chicken shorcuts mixed in with macaroni and cheese.

Hugs to all of you. CBW hope your head feels better. Grap a nap when you can.

I better get back to my work so I can make my bosses frown... turn upside down.. hee hee.

I truly truly love you guys :)

Uhm, Maybe it is Lasagna. That is frozen lasagna. Not homemade, Although the homemade is so much better.

Oh, I forgot I have a Duck in the freezer, Hmmm (I wonder whatever happened to my doctor) LOL

Save the quacking for another time. Never had it before but I figured good time as any to try something new, especially after having to deal with all the Quacks.

Dr. Evil laugh Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha

With my little pinkie on my chin and my head shaved.

I have the BEST lasagna recipe ever... but it's not quick and easy.

If it slows down here at work long enough, I'll post it for you, so you can make it this weekend and have leftovers all week!

curlybenswife
Jan 22, 2007, 09:59 AM
OH my word I think we need to start a recipe sharing thred what do you think??

Synnen
Jan 22, 2007, 10:03 AM
I think that would be great! Especially if it were either quick and easy recipes (that take like 10 minutes to make) or stuff that makes a ton so you can have leftovers during the week!

I was seriously thinking the other day that I have a ton of "recipes" in my head that aren't really recipes (like adding hamburger and canned chili beans to mac'n'cheese) but are still variety, filling, and not too horrible for you---and I wish I had more!

One thing about quitting smoking is that I find myself in the kitchen more and more.

curlybenswife
Jan 22, 2007, 10:09 AM
I thought about starting one the other day but I never did I spent 3 years training as a chef and I love to cook but I have to be in the right frame of mood.

Synnen
Jan 22, 2007, 10:12 AM
3 years training as a chef! Wow!

So... when am I invited to dinner at your house? We can make up the "Do it for Harley" t-shirts and slide down your stairs in a laundry basket!

Jan 22, 2007, 10:15 AM
Hi everyone.

OH CBW I just love it!! And oddly enough I am more hungry than usual. I love trying new receipes. That would be great!!

Synnen - cough up the lasagna receipe... :):) YUM

By the way, was talking to one of the fellas here who has been after me to stop smoking and he said once we get two weeks under our belt, a lot of the severe cravings will leave.
He said the nicotene is leaving our system. Just like you were saying Synnen.

Oh, I enjoy cooking. Love it. I actually started cooking when I was 8 years old. I was an early starter. One thing about recipes I do not like is there is not room for compromise, and I enjoy experimenting with food.

Oh, I will have a new picture soon.

My Mother's Lasagna:

1 lb ground beef (or Italian sausage, if you like it spicier), browned
2 - 8oz cans Hunt's Special Sauce (or tomato sauce if you can't find it. I use oregano and garlic flavor, personally)

Mix these two ingredients together, set aside.

1 (8 0z? Standard size) pkg cream cheese
1 16 oz package sour cream

Mix together until smooth. Set aside.

You will also need 1 lb mozzerella cheese, grated, and cooked lasagna noodles (about 8).

In an ungreased 9x13 cake pan, layer in the following order:

lasagna noodles
hamburger mix
cream cheese mix
cheese.

You should be able to get 2 layers of each into the pan. Warning! Be skimpy on the meat mixture on your first layer, or you won't get a second layer!

Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes, or until the cheese is golden brown. Serves 8 easily, usually more.

Hey, one of the guys in work just gave me this great gum. Oh it is making my mouth very happy. I was getting so sick of the cough drops. He gave me Dentyne Ice Gum.
It's sugarless and really helps with the cravings. Wish I give put some through the monitor to you all.

Saw the thread CBW added my spinach caserole receipe. It is really good and easy.

Soda straws... the things you stick into a coke from McDonald's to drink it? They're plastic so they last a while, you can suck on them without it being too weird, and easily replaced!

Synnen,

That's what my Mom used when she stopped smoking (sadly she picked it back up years down the road). It did work for her, but I don't see the fun in that. Plus it's usually my throat that gives off a sensation or need for something to go down it.

This really stinks doesn't it. We are spending our evenings talking about sucking on straws LOL oh me.. oh my.

Thanks for all the love today :) back at you.

Cbw, you're a goddess you can slide down the stairs in or on anyhting you want. Luden cough drops are good to. I love the cherry taste and they're soothing. I red these posts and I'm rolling on the floor literally laughing. Im picturing you on a metal trash can lid sliding down the steps. Count me in for dinner, I'll bring mr chippers and he can keep Ben company under the stairs. While we goddesses celebrate with nectar from the gods. I'll bring the boys and they can runn millie right into bed. Joe I'm glad you're feeling better. You did the right thing in seeing a different doctor. Your ears will feel better soon. The throbbing and ringing will stop once the swelling and pressure on the ear drum has gone down. It feels like the bells of st. mary in your head.
All heart you can dance all you want, cause you have first dibbs on the stairs. All I'll need is a good reason to tell the insurance company why there's a new doorway where there wasn't one before. I'll claim pms. No one would think twice about that.

Sorry I have not been keeping up lately. I have a lot on my plate right now.

I have temporarily given up trying to stop, even though you all will kill me when you find out.

Johnny is better, BUT...

My father is in the hospital with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), CHF (Congestive Heart FAilure), Emphysemia, and pneumonia, NO he is NOT a smoker.

My mother-in-law has double pneumonia and possibly a recurrence of breast cancer that may have reoccurred in her lungs. No she is not a smoker either. Actually I am the only smoker in the family.

School has gotten terrible since I have labs on Tuesday and Thursday until 3, which puts me back in our town at 4 and Johnny gets out of school at 2:15. My mother-in-law teaches at his school and would keep him until I got there, but she is on medical leave right now.

So, please forgive me for falling off the "branch" I would like to join you all again when the stress is over.

Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Janine

Oh honey... that's a lot on your plate. I'll keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Why would we hate you? We'll just save a spot for you, and hang on to you heart and soul in the meantime.

Take care of YOU. If that means that you're not on our branch right now... so what? You're still in the tree with us. You're still a goddess.

Keep your chin up Janine. We'll all be thinking of you. Let us know how we can help you.

Allheart
Jan 22, 2007, 06:28 PM
Oh Janine,

You are more than in our prayers... and you see this spot right here ______________
That's yours on the branch and it will always be there waiting for you and we will always be here as well.

Many hugs, love and prayers coming your way for you and your family.

Sometimes you wonder why it comes in bunches like that, but I think if you had to handle it all separately it may be harder. With it all lumped together like that the mind just can't seem to grasp, and sometimes makes it a little easier, as you just feel like you are in a fog. Not sure if that makes any sense.

Many hugs again.
