I just want to say that I love my family and without them, my life would have no true meaning or purpose. I wish I was a better mom sometimes and I hope they don't need twenty years of therapy after they grow up and move out. WHy is it that kids know how to push your buttons? They truly can bring out the best and the worst in you. I feel like I am too tough on them when I shouldn't be and not consistent enough in other areas. I love them with all my heart and soul but I don't always feel like I respond to them effectively.

Have a great month everyone! August is my fave month of the year lol, I love how it rains so much, I like to walk in the rain, its so relaxing, I reckon the rain is one of gods most beautiful creations, and really underappreciated.

Well where we are it looks like no rain for a while.. Heat wave and it is supposed to be a real hot, smoggy, humid month of August. I would love to go where it is raining. Yes, it is relaxing and cooling especially after a long heat spell.

At what age do you stop looking forward to your birthday? Mine's at the end of August and I couldn't care less. It's nice to get the presents and to get my husband to do whatever I want to do. But, it has really turned into another day. Does this mean I am old?

I wish I had the will power to not eat - or to just eat what is right for me. I am a terrible snacker.

Hehe, its raining a lot lately over here, its quite cold though, but the rain is worth it.
Sometimes I like to go for a walk in the rain, or just step out of my room into the garden and just stand in the rain with my eyes closed for a moment, when the stress becomes too much.

I am not huge - but I could stand to lose about 30 lbs (according to my husband) - I say 50 lbs - but he says that is to skinny. I like skinny.
I have actually stopped buying junk snacks at the store. I have stocked up on fresh veggies. I just don't eat them. I will buy one snack item (typically cheese crackers) and that is what I go for. They are meant to be a quick snack for my 7 year old, but I end up eating them.

Cheese on crackers is waaaay too easy to snack on, they are small, numeroues, tasty.
I find that I tend to run out of cheese, and still have crackers left over, so I get more cheese, then I have excess cheese, so more crackers, or vice versa, and it is too easy to go get some more cheese or some more crackers

My real down fall is chips and salsa. I could eat salsa with anything.

Next thing, we have had company since before the foster boy left so we haven't had a regular day for two and a half months. I am not complaining just goes to show that Love is all around you and I love it.

Hey everybody! I need to be in the kitchen getting dinner ready - but it is to hot to think about food or cooking!
It is sucking the life right out of me today!
We tried on clothes today (me and my daughter) to see what still fits her. One pair of pants so far - out of the 6 or 7 pairs we tried on. She had a little fashion show and then started sweating to bad!
So, we are on a break from it.

Very well, then shopping it is! Lucky. How is the new job? I have been think of you.

I start on Monday. I am really looking forward to it.
I don't really want to go shopping - she is growing so fast. I bought at least 5 outfits at CHristmas that no longer fit. I know this sounds bad - but I am going to the second hand store (Once upon a child) and get most of her clothes. I did this for the summer and not only did I save a lot of $$, but I got all name brand - brand new looking clothes. She doesn't care (yet) and doesn't really know that they aren't brand spankin new. And, I can take all of the clothes that I bought last year that are still in perfect condition and sell them there and have more to shop with.

That is what we did when we lived in Alaska, new clothes were wayyyyy too expensive and to tell you the truth, people give up wonderful things and you can't go wrong with the prices there. I agree, I f she doesn't care, then go for it.
My daughter is ten, everything she has she picks out, we get deals at JC Penny because they have the best sales ever... I can't wait to hear about the job

The boys on the other hand, don't care at all and I can bring stuff home and they will wear anything!

She has her style - but she doesn't care about labels yet. And the fact that these clothes have sales tags on them - she thinks they are new. I like clothes for her A lot. I spend way too much. She has lots of shoes to go with the outfits. I just have to find a way to still get her the clothes I like and not spend a lot of $$. I think I have found the place. :)

Yup, you have. We have a goodwill here that has so many new things that they get from gap and old navy that are last years stuff. We get deals there too. I do love the mall when we go, it is a day trip and we have a bunch of fun with lunch, shopping and dinner. I only buy when it is a deal. Never ever anything more that 50-75% off the original price. I just can't bring myself to spend more. Fun fun fun...

We had a super nice time and Amber had a great birthday at Islands of Adventure. She is a big 11 year old now. Wow, that is weird. Yeah, it was great, and exhausting. I am broke but that is OK. My friend and her kids had a blast, so it was worth helping them go. She was still selfish and insensitive, but that is OK because I know she has always been like that. The whole night of my birthday she kept telling my friends, just remember, "It's all about me OK??" THe rest of the trip was too. That is fine, I love her anyway.

NOO, I would die if I EVER heard my daughter say, "It's all about me", that is my friend who came to visit. She believes she is more important than anyone. She is a childhood friend who I still see and keep in touch with. Although start is right, spending that kind of time with someone and you will see their true colors shining through!!

Yes, my daughter does have both my husband's and my personality. She also is a mix of both of our looks. She is a kind and loving child and I am watching her grow with immense pride and pleasure. However, letting go of anything is difficult with me. I am learning to love and let go all the time. She is another example of how I struggle with that.
I am doing fine, I am healthy and loved. What more could I ask for really?
Even though my friend disappointed me greatly with her attitude and mouth, I know that the kindness and love I showed her and her children will come back to me in other ways.
My daughter was very helpful on the trip. On the day my friend was leaving my daughter helped her organize all of her things and cleaned the entire hotel room. I was trying to help her pack and Amber just jumped in to help. My friends children didn't help do anything, not even once.! Even when they stayed at my house for the first week and a half, they left their stuff everywhere. The dining room table was full of makeup, brushes, hairspray, straightener, you name it! My son's room was covered with all of their stuff, he couldn't even go in there! Then the couches in every room had their clothes and blankets thrown. It was a surprise that she didn't make them pick up anything. Well, maybe their garbage, that is about it. I wasn't raised that way and neither was my daughter. NO matter what, kids should be helpful and respectful. If my child acts selfish or rude at someone's house, I am all over it. I am proud of her and what they did is more a reflection on them. I am glad I learned different.

The funny thing is, she talked crap about me the whole night to my friends when we were out for my birthday. They told me what she said but I didn't say anything to her. Just continued to be loving. Although it makes me wonder why I still am friends with her. I think she has gotten worse in the last couple years..

What do you guys think I should do about that?? She has called several times since she left and I do not answer my cell phone. I just don't have anything nice to say, so I am not saying anything right now.

I may be sweet, but I can also be confrontational, which I why I am avoiding her. I want to be honest without being angry and sometimes that is hard for me. I am glad you think I am a good woman, I haven't yet become the woman I want to be. The hardest part is, when you talk on the phone and everything is fine but then when you hang out and all of their negative stuff seems to override the good stuff. I didn't want to ruin anything so I wanted to accommodate all of their wants and needs. Although it is kind of like a spoiled child, you give them what they want and think it will satisfy them but then they just want more, more more.

It's hard to know what to do with a friend like that. I discovered a long time ago that the collection of "friends" that we gather as we go through life is not necessarily made up of only people that we like or respect. Some people seem to remain our friends in spite of themselves, and in spite of what we might prefer. I guess I've come to regard such people as "anti-gurus", i.e. people who demonstrate for us the fruits of foolish behavior and attitudes so that we can avoid them in ourselves. For that we should thank them. On the other hand, I don't think we're obligated to subject ourselves to their foolishness unnecessarily or indefinitely. Not answering your phone when you don't feel like talking to her is fine, as is Start's idea about calling her on some of her more outrageous behavior. But only if you can do it calmly and without anger, so as not to give it energy and perpetuate it.

Yes, calmly and don't let it turn ugly, close the conversation with I have to go now attitude and all will work out or not. I have noticed that I have friends, and then I have FRIENDS!! I love them all but chose not to be close with some.

This is her way of acting that out. Be patient. Tell her no when she kicks, bites or pulls hair, put her in time out or her room for a minute. After that, do not give her any attention for bad behavior and redirect her attention to something else, a specific activity or something. When she focus on that, give her love and attention. IT may work, it may not. Just thought I would throw a tip out there.

Hey everybody! The first day at work was great! I think I am really going to like it.
Daycare was good for my little one. I think it was harder for me to leave her there than it was on her 1st day of kindergarten. But, she loved it and wants to know when she can go back - so, it was a successful day all around!

I wanted to come on the other days but I was to busy with the baby.
Like Joe says the baby wakes up really early. I have to get used to it. Both Joe and I have been walking a lot with the baby, it has been cooler outside. I enjoy walking, I can not stay still.

Start are you feeling better then the other days? I am gald you had a good time with your mother and with your friend. It is hard to say goodbye, especially when they live far away. It happened to me many times when I go to Colombia to visit family. It is so hard to leave and say goodbye.

Great picture of all of you. Too bad she and your mom had to go. I have a tough time with goodbyes also! My grandpa would never say goodbye, he would always say, SO LONG! I think that was good because it meant we weren't really parting at all, just until we meet again. Too bad I can't post pictures of our trip to ORlando. Universal and Islands of Adventure was awesome but my friend has all the pictures in her camera.

By the way, I still haven't called her. Some things are just better left unsaid.

Hey Joe, glad to hear you and Proud are walking. Sounds like baby Josh is teething. I know frozen teething rings only can help so much. They can't sleep because of the pressure. My pharmacy had teething tablets that helped Bryce a lot, but I guess you always need to check and see if its safe for him

Mornin Shattered, I just figured I would try to do the picture thingy and it worked, simple so simple... I feel so dorky for not using the right thing. Anyway, yes saying good bye is hard but she has to finish nursing school, she graduates in December and she is thinking of moving here.
My mom is even thinking of moving here.
Hope all is well. I am getting my house all back together, did lot's of cleaning and got some little things done! Washing the gosh darn walls will be next but we will see when I get time for that. I am going to be moving in a month or so, I will be busy!

SARAI, not trying to leave you out. Long story short, I went away with a friend who came to visit and we had a few bumpy moments. I am just trying to learn from my mistakes and be a better person. I just had to be honest about how I felt about her and I wasn't sure how it came off.
