How do you remove the blades from a MTD lawn Mower?
I purchased a MTD lawn mower and I am trying to remove the blades. I have having difficulty because I am afraid they may break. Does anyone know how to remove them?
    Thanks
    Christine!

Hey Chris, they won't break. Pull the spark plug wire first. Prop the wheels on one side on a board or box to give you room. My neighbor likes to side the handle under his car to prop up the front. Get a breaker arm or good sized ratchet wrench with the correct sized socket on the nut under the blade. Rotate the blade until it reaches the grass chute and wedge it with a 2x4 or some block of wood. Now you can break loose the nut and remove the blade. Do not resharpen unless you also know how to rebalance the blade, just a buy a new one to be safe.
