Demand of security deposit after 21 day rule.
First off, I'm in California. I was asked to move out of the house I was in from my rental agency, stating that the owners son wants to move and do some remodeling to the house where I was at... the rental agency that I was with... in turn, rented to me another home, stating to me they did not want to lose me, so they gave me another house.. which was great.. I didn't have to search.

It has been 22 days as of today that I have not received an itemized statement/refund of my security deposit. I paid my deposit to my rental company, the rental company is now stating to me that they are no longer contracting w/ the owner. Sooo.. who is the persons I would take to court for my money... (would make sense to take the rental company since I gave them my money) yet, I know they dispursed the money to the owners in the beginning.. and they are my current rental company.. odd situation.

On the 16th of this month, the rental company had called me stating that the owners ripped out the livingroom carpet before the rental company did the last walk through and the owners were going to charge me for it... I left the home very clean and I would have cleaned the carpet, but in California they automatically take it out of your deposit even if you cleaned it.. so I didn't do it...

I am currently under housing authority and 2 months ago just passed a very strict inspection. (if anybody knows this program, they are very strict)

Today.. 22nd day. I demanded through a typed letter that I want my full refund since they haven't provided me w/ my itemized statement or refund, addressed to the rental company and the owner.. the owner will not allow the rental company to disclose their address etc... so now I'm searching the county database where I live to get this letter to them also... my rental company stated to me that they called the owner and told them that I left them paperwork...

Any sugestions... aye yae yae.. too much for the brain.. lol

Take them both to court, one as the actual owner, the other as the management of the home while you were renting.
