4 month old whirlpool washer spins sometimes.
After the wash cycle the washer makes a sound but doesn't spin, it does drain the water out though. If you lift the lid and shut it then the spinning starts... anyone have any ideas before I call stupid whirlpool.
    Thanks

    THIS HAPPEN TO ME!
Make sure the drain hose is only 6 inches in the drain hole... it also says in the manual.
I had to call sears to see what was up and he went through the things it might be and this was one of them. The hose is suppose to go out of the washer and back up and only about 6" in the drain hole...

    I hope this works!

Correct it doesn't spin unless you either open the lid and then shut it, then it starts to spin.. the water pump works fine on evacuating the water so it doesn't have anything to do with that part of it. The final spin cycle it works fine, its just the first 2 spin outs it fails... I hope this makes sense

    no it doesn't...

    =)

ill tell you what happen with mine and maybe well I hope it's the same. You should call the company you got it from, its under a yr. it should under warranty.

with mine I would start it and it would do the washing thing, spin and then it would just fill and fill never go to the rinsing cycel... but when I mannualy put it on the next one it would work but it would never do it on its own.

    good luck!
