    Chandelier wiring
I'm trying to find info on how to wire a chandelier. I tried the website on a 2005 post but it was no longer there. I've shelled out $50 for a book on lamp wiring, but it doesn't address anything with arms. Help!

Is there a particular question you have? Are you asking what gets wired to what, or are you asking how to physically snake the wires through the arms?

If the former, it's pretty straightforward. There are two wires that go to each lamp socket; one lead connects to the center contact (that one is the hot lead), and the other to the screw base (the neutral). This wiring is generally strandrd lamp cord. In chandeliers that I've worked with all, the wiring from all the arms gets brought to a central point and then are ganged together to the main lead that goes up the chain to be connected to power in the ceiling box. That central point depends on the design of the chandelier, typically at a convenient meeting point of the arms. So you have 6 (or whatever) hot leads from the 6 arms all connected to one main lead, and 6 neutrals that are connected to one neutral lead, and these get connected to the ceiling box - hot to black (or maybe red) and neutral to white. You should also have a ground connection to whatever metal surface is on the chandelier. Does this help?

I am re-wiring an eight light chandelier that was wired in a series. I would like a formula to figure the maximum wattage for a given wire, or the wire size required to obtain a certain maximum wattage. Would the formula also work if the chandelier was not wired in series?
