    Concerned Mother
My son is only 10 months old he has had stomach problems since he has been born. Let me explain, he will get a bright red face like he is trying to poop. Which he is trying to but then he starts throwing up like projectile vomiting out his nose and everything. Some times he will have a messy diaper afterwards and some times not. If not it usually happens again a little bit later. I do believe this is affecting him allot. We have had a horrible time with tummy time and he is only 16 pounds at 10 months old. I do have daughter that is 2 so it is not like this is my first child and I am just being paranoid. The reason I am going in to so much detail is because I have been to 3 doctors and a gastrologist and the first thing they tell me is that it is normal for babies to have acid reflect. I truly believe this is not acid reflects. They have put him on milk of magnesia, 2 acid reflects medications, and I have try natural cures like giving him more juice, feeding him more foods to help him. I have even tried a natural juice called Goji Juice which seems to help but not enough. I believe there is something wrongh with his boules but they won't do any test to I don't understand why. I am frustrated and concerned for my baby I want my baby to be happy and hopefully start crawling and gaining wait. Please Help

Your baby could be experiencing acid reflux. What formula do you have him on?

How much did he weigh when he was born?

    How often does this happen?

Do you burp him properly after feedings?

The formula he is on is called Nutramigin. We already went through all the formulas to see if it could help. We even tried goats milk. None of them seemed to help the doctor put him on Nutramigin. It only seems to happen when he tries to poop and if he doesn't throw up then he doesn't poop for a few days. He also cries allot but I do not know if he is in pain or just colic. His weight when he was born was 6lb. We burp every time we feed him some times it can take up to 20 minutes to even get him to burp.

Not a health expert but have five children and have got ten grandchildren, it sounds like the poor little fellow is constipated and you don't hear of it these days but if any of mine had a problem like this then good old sugar water soon sorted them out, it sounds like it comes upwards because it has trouble the other end, so maybe some sugar water will help him too, all you do is put a level teaspoon of sugar in a bottle of warm water and shake well, is only a suggestion that worked for me. Take care, love and peace anne x

Though I'm not a doctor I think it could be one of several problems. Could be constipation... when too constipated it will finally come up... no more room. The other thing is... my grand-daughter had this problem. We treated the constipation, gas, acid reflux, etc. Nothing worked for long. Finally my grand-daughter performed the projectile vomiting in front of doctor. They did an ultrasound of her abdomen/stomach. She was diagnosed with having problems with the exit portion of her stomach to the intestines. It was too tight or something. She had stomach surgery to help and has been fine every since. Without the ultra-sound it wouldn't have been found. Not necessarily the problem your having but worth asking about. Good luck. Cathy

My son was a puker, too! We did all the formula changes, sugar water, etc. He suffered from a bilateral hernia and life got better after that was taken care of.

Constipation can also make them vomit like that - they are bearing down so hard it makes their stomach empty. Puréed prunes, plums and spinach help keep the bowels moving.
