    Toilet keeps running
I think I need to replace the 'float' system in the toilet. It appears, after filling, the float is not shutting off the water. I try to manually raise the float higher, but this does not work.
While this is not a costly repair, could it be anything else?

You might try turning off the water and removing the float and stem assembly, (that's the top). Check the seat for crud and nicks for rough spots. Now place a pan over the open top and turn on the water to flush out the supply. Reassemble and test. If it still won't shut off you got to "bite the bullet" and replace it. Cheers, Tom

I have gotten away with just replacing the seal. Too often, by the time a part needs replaced, they don't carry that design anymore. Won't hurt to check the hardware store for only the worn part when you go to buy a new one.
