Confused / Is Switch Wired Wrong??
Have an Odd Ball Wall Mounted Light Fixture that is more Orniment than Functional.. It's in a Mini Hallway that leads to the Basement Stairway.. The Mini Hallway has a Ceiling Light & Switch which is sufficient.. The Fixture in question , turn the Basement Stairway lights on the fixture goes out and viseaversa... Don't know how I could remedy the problem other than , would a fixture with it's own Pull Cord be best?

Note: Came with the house when purchased , never bothered / investigated till now.. lol.. Thoughts Appreciated Cheers Thanks

Sounds like a 3 way is wired improperly so that it switches the travelers back and forth. There should be two 3 way switches, those not marked ON or OFF. Without knowing how the circuit is wired, it is a bit difficult to suggest alternatives. 3 way circuits have a lot of possible ways to be wired.

The Hallway Ceiling Light & Switch , Plus the 2 Basement Stairway Lights & Switches (Switches ,1@ Top of Steps other@ Bottom of Steps) have 14/3 Wire leading from them.. The Odd Ball Light Fixture in Question has only 14/2 Wire leading from it..
