    Need help with a kitchen sink/plumbing
    Hi and I'm glad to have found this board.

    Just over a year ago, I bought a fixer upper kind of house. I'm newly divorced and it's what I could afford.

    However, prior to my owning it, it was a rental for three years. Thus, a lot of work done on the house was pretty below par and kind of rigged.

    I can't afford to hire a lot of work done so I'm kind of figuring things out as I go along.

    My latest issue has been my kitchen sink. Currently, the sink is a cheap double sink stainless steel with a mess of the plumbing underneath.

    I'm having problems getting the sink to drain well at all (also having problems with the main sewer line from my house, but that seems to be doing okay, for now). The kitchen sink has always been a little slow to drain and I feel it has something to do with the mess of the plumbing underneath the sink. I've attached a picture of the left side of it, as the right side is pretty straight forward.

    As it stands now, I have no vent pipe anywhere in the house (built in 1936 in a time when zoning laws were a fantasy) so the kitchen sink doesn't have one at all. Also, it should be mentioned the drain for the sink isn't in the wall, but is in the floor.

    I'm changing the plumbing underneath my sink, but I'm thinking I might be better off putting in a whole new sink, one with one sink only, so I can do something more direct route to the floor drain.

    I would appreciate any suggestions as to what would be the best course of action here. (And I'm sorry the picture is so large. I couldn't figure out how to make it smaller.)

    You gave such good instruction, even this woman could do it, I think!
