Ceiling leaking down stairs over patio door
Ceiling leaks downstairs over patio door also the frame around the patio door, when heavy rain and wind. I checked the ceilings upstairs but they seem to be fine.
What type of professional should I be calling. Would a handyman be able to help.

Whether you need a professional or handyman depends on what needs to be done. Sounds like flashing or caulking may be bad. Are gutters overflowing? This is one reason these types of leaks occur-you mentioned heavy rain. Might have bad siding or other condition. Without a personal inspection, it's hard to say what is needed and who should do it. Have a couple of people inspect and give you their opinion.

Just like every car owner needs a trusted mechanic, every homeowner needs a trusted handyman. Lacking one then you need 3 FREE estimates from reputable contractors/companies/specialists to compare and get FACTS.

I know many homeowners are loathed to have an homeowner's insurance adjuster inspect and advise them, for fear of higher rates, but I advise they be consulted before any major work is done on your home, especially on your roof. Your neighbors may even have a good handyman, can't hurt to talk to them.

Start with a good handyman you TRUST. See what he says. Pictures would be NICE.
