    Is J.B. Weld intended for permanent leak fix?
    Brand new home. Plumber repaired 6 screw holes (caused by drywall contractor) in a drain pipe with JB Weld. This seems like a good temporary fix, but is this recommended as a permanent fix for a warranty issue? I still contend that the pipe should be replaced.

    A drain pipe isn't under pressure. I wouldn't fix a water pipe with it... but a drain pipe I wouldn't worry.

    What kind of material was the drain pipe? I'm guessing one of the Plastic varieties.

    PVC? In any case it is not under pressure so little chance of leakage. Have them sand it and paint it white, never see it.

    PVC or ABS drain pipe are easy and relatively inexpensive to repair. He should have cut out the section with holes, and replace it with new section of pipe. I would not use any temporary fix on sewer pipe in my house.

    How was the drywall nails able to penetrate the pipe? If installed according to code that should not happen. Did the plumber install nail plates on all studs and joist where the pipe is to close to the edge to prevent this from happening again?

    Since it was someone fault, make them fix it correctly by replacing that section of pipe.
    While normally there will not be a leakage, it should be done to code.
