Bought 6 acres that I will be building a house on in the fall. I am not in the area currently. While building, I want to live in a old mobile home that has been on the property since the 80's.

A friend went by when it was raining and there was water coming down one or more of the exterior walls as there was small wetness along some of the edges of the room. The carpet has been removed and is particle board.

I want to go and make some preparatory repairs to the place in a couple weeks. It's got a footprint of 30 x 60. It's a low gable, simple roofline.

I was thinking of putting tarps on it like they do after a hurricane. But I came across a similar posting on this subject and someone recommended the TriFlex Synthetic roofing rolls by Grace. It says it will last 6 months. That would make it through the rainy season here in Florida.

I can get rolls of 48" x 250' for $100. I would need 2 or 3 rolls. Its worth the cost to me. But is it a good plan?

Sure, if you think you can build your house before it wears out. I would read the Grace specs to see how well it holds on DAMP, bumpy, almost flat roofs. I assume that it requires several gallons of roof cement too. Add up all the costs. If the particle board floors are rotten, and there are long term leaks down the walls, is any of this worth it, over renting an RV and starting first with electricity and water/sewer which you can tap into and move a few feet when the house is ready for it?
