    Weight loss during third trimester
    I am pregnant with my second child. My starting weight was 186.5lbs at 5'5" tall (Obese)... through the morning sickness phase that ended at 21 weeks I had dropped down to 177.8lbs. Loss of appetite, vomiting and just taking on smaller portions caused that to happen... Through the holidays of Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years I jumped up to a whopping 193lbs. At the first of the year I started watching what I ate, started choosing more healthy meals and snacks for myself, started doing prenatal yoga... On average I consume about 1500 calories a day, if I ate more I would be stuffing myself and making myself feel sick. I do not go hungry I eat something every 2-3 hours... I weighed myself this morning (I am 29 weeks and 5 days today) at 184.4lbs. That is less than what I weighed when I found out I was pregnant. Is it okay to lose weight in my third trimester as long as I am not going hungry and getting the nutrients I need?

    My wife is probably in the 300lbs ish range. Her weight has remained constant during the 28 weeks she's been pregnant. This is our second child, a boy this time around, and she's has various gastrointestional issues that has prevented her from consuming as much as she probably should have. The same thing happened with our little girl, born about 18m ago.

    In short, it is fine.

    In medium, it is fine but you should make sure that you've got a good vitamin supplement that is specifically directed towards pregnant women.

    In long, it is fine. You've got to make sure that you're replenishing the nutrients in your body. During pregnancy your body will glean nutrients and energy from your body to support and grow that little bundle of joy. It will do it regardless of the impact that has on your body. If you can't eat and are sustaining yourself on french fries and jujubees, then your body will take calcium and magnesieum from your bones, iron from your blood and tissues, and anything else you need. Once you give birth and are able to consume again you'll need to replenish those or you'll start to notice deficiencies.

    As I am sure you've been told many, many, many times. If you have any concerns or are worried about anything to do with your pregnancy please talk to your OB/GYN or midwife or any medical professional.
