    sewage Smell
I am a new home owner. My house has a sewage smell that comes and goes and I cannot determine what it is. I believe that it is coming from my stand up shower because I believe it doesn't have a p-trap but I wanted to know if there was any other suggestions you can advise me with before I take up the shower floor. Thanks!

You would certainly know if it doesn't have a p trap as the smell would be there all the time. Remove the floor drain cover and I bet you will find all kinds of gunk in there, mostly hair.

    Hi ma0641 and speedball1,

Thank you both for the detailed info! I will try to snake the shower drain as directed. The smell doesn't come from anywhere else but from there and it usually travels throughout the house - strongest from that particular drain. No bubbles that I've noticed either. Thanks again!

Bad smells from shower drains comes from rotting hair mixed with grease. After you snake the drain pour a half gallon of bleach down the drain and let it set for a few hours. Smell all better now? Cheers Tom
