I'm wondering how long it will take for the counter movement to begin, I mean it isn't just the ute or the pickup which is inviolate but we have to strike back hard otherwise we might have to yield the remote, and settle for chardonnay instead of beer. I fought that war and won. I got an ad removed from a major company from ever airing again. It is bad enough that the courts (here in America) have an automatic sentence for divorcing dads that have children. It is part of the feminizing going on. We cant even let children play because of hurt feelings. We have lost sight of coping skills in our youth today because of the seperation and prevalence of divorce.

Yes Dad I agree divorce has a devastating impact on family and children and should be a last resort, not the first but what can you do in a me society, children aren't taken into account

In some respects (atleast here) they have made divorce too easy. If a couple has children then there should be a mandatory waiting period and couseling provided there hasnt been violence in the home. That way there can be a cooling off and healing period if needed.

That is why you would make it mandatory. That way if the other party wishs to refuse it they can but then why should they have the children if they arent going to co operate with the other parent in raising them. It is just one of the early signs that the children are headed for a troubled youth if the parents cant co operate.

Who pay for all that counseling, and what of those that cohabitate instead of marry? What happens to the kids if counseling doesn't work but just delays the inevitable? It may be easier to get a divorce, but divorce is no easy thing to go through.

Nice theory, but I believe just one symptom of crumbling, failed institutions. Half of marriages failing has been a reality before they made divorces easier. Good luck with trying to stop humans from multiplying, by mandatory structuring rules and regulations.
