x-rays and MMR vaccine in early pregnancy
My sons wife has polystic ovaries and had tests also a MMR vaccine she had taken a pregnancy test before and it said negative however a few weeks later she started getting nausea and took another test which was positive, she must have been around 6 weeks pregnant she has just had a scan 5 weeks later and been told she is 11 weeks along. Everything looked fine, strong heartbeat, but we are still very worried,
I think they are being referred to a baby delelopment specialist, do you know if all this would cause damage to our grandchild? Please.

With the MMR she and the baby should be fine. Vaccines: Pubs/Guidelines for Vaccinating Pregnant Women

She should be followed for the x-rays, but most likely the fetus will not suffer from a one-time exposure.

I am assuming that your daughter in law had told that doctor about the previous tests and vaccines. Generally you shouldn't be too worried about the Vaccines, I don't think they'll breach the placental barrier. If the fetus hasn't aborted itself and is still growing and strong, than you shouldn't be worried. Now that she's in the system she'll have regular appointments. Any concerns that she has should be brought up with her doctor by her.

I know you care very much for your son and his wife, but you also need to take a step back and let them manage this pregnancy on their own. I have a 11 month daughter and during my wife's pregnancy there was a lot of stress caused by people 'interfering' with her pregnancy. They thought they were being helpful but after you have 20 people tell you to try ginger for nausea, including complete strangers, it gets tiring and annoying with everything that goes on during the pregnancy. Be there and be supportitive but remember that she's the one that's pregnant and a lot has changed since your son was born.

    Good luck.
