Problem with new drive belt
Replaced drive belt on craftsman model # 917.271660 ran fine for one day then would not go into reverse and then started straining to go uphills. Replacement belt was not purchased from sears part store but was purchased from location that matched the belt (140294) as cross reference to their part number.

There is a clicking noise where the belt goes into the primary/trans. When I roll the bike or if I grab the belt and move it forward and back, there is play in the front of the belt The bottom part of the belt has about 1-1/4"play up and down but I don't feel like that is the fault.
I would like to know the steps to change the drive belt and tensioner belt on a 38" 13.5hp MTD Yard Machine.
I replaced the drive belt and transmisson belt and the clutch/brake pedal will not work when the mower is in forward. The mower will move forward when idling without pressing on drive pedal. Anyone know what it could be?
