    Pipe fittings for gas line
    Can you use soldering copper pipe fittings for gas? It is possible or not? Any views will be appreciated.

    No, you cannot use soldered joints to join gas pipe. In some areas, FLARE FITTINGS are allowed...otherwise, it is threaded black malleable pipe and fittings. Local codes will dictate proper pipe/fitting materials...;)

    Years ago when I was plumbing in Kansas City I saw lots of residential gas water heaters supplied with a copper gas line. Personally, I have always used black iron, Wardflex or CSST and underground Polyethylene (PE) gas piping. Check your local codes.

    You probably saw PROPANE gas lines run in copper with FLARE fittings, Dcplumber. Like we said, local codes always dictate!!
