    Sewer cleanout
Just found some water coming from the sewer clean out on the basement floor, the cleanout plug/Tee looks out of lifespan. Can I buy a new plug to solve this jussi? Where can I get a new one and how to do the replacement, thanks!

Depends on what the problem is. Is the sewer line backing up over the plug, is there a sewer blockage ? Is the treads of the pipe damaged?

Hi kwoo, you can replace a plug or cap on a clean-out, but as mentioned you more than likely have a partial blockage. I would snake the line and then put the same plug and see if the leak stops. Let us know how it goes.

    Hi Kwoo

As stated above you can certainly replace the cleanout plug...usually requires a trip to the plumbing supply store as most cast iron drain cleanouts are made of brass and are an odd size. If this is a PVC or ABS cleanout plug then any large home improvement store should have that readily available. Finally, if your cleanout is really dunged up and a regular cleanout plug will not work then you can purchase a FIT ALL LEAD cleanout plug (use hammer to push plug into the cleanout and a wrench to turn the plug and literally "cut" threads into the plug) or a wing nut type expansion plug...;)

Those are your cleanout plug options, but as mentioned, I would deal with the sewer line first. A good way to test the drain line is to drain a full washing machine with the plug out and see if the water backs up...if it does, time to rent a sewer drain machine or call a local plumber in to clear the blockage!

Hi, we had a backup and plumber had to use roof vent to clean it out. I have looked all over for a cleanout and have not located it yet, and don't know if we have one or not. I read about putting snake down toilet and using metal detecter but have none of those things. Is there a way I might find...
