    Its my first offense, what will happen?
    I was caught stealing a curling iron and now I have a desk appearance ticket. Its my first offense, what will happen?

    If you were caught, you will probably be convicted. Most likely you will be given probation. But you will have a criminal record.

    Not knowing your age or location its impossible to guess further.

    Even simple items will be a chargeable offense. You will probably get probation but will have a permanent record. Makes the iron look a bit expensive.
