    Mears thermostats with 3 wires.not 2 or 4
    House built in 1981. Have electric wall heaters in each room. Unable to find replacement for wall thermostat with 3 wires,not 2 or 4?

    Are these thermostats line voltage or are the powered via a transformer? Can you post a picture or two of the stats & heaters? Any numbers on the stats?

The Mears 220v thermostat for our ceiling heat has (had) a resistor wired parallel with the leads going to the ceiling wires. The insulating sleeve disintegrated allowing the resistor to short against the metal case. There is nothing remaining of the resistor but powder. What was its value?
