    Washer Install In Extra Bathroom
I have a extra bathroom where I am going to install a washing machine (15 year old Sears Kenmore Extra Heavy Duty) and a utility sink.  There was a small sink and a toilet installed previously which I have removed.  The sink drain is 1 1/2" and both waters are 1/2" PVC pipe.  I need to know if I can I tie the washing machine drain and the utility sink drain into the 1 1/2 pipe for the old sink or will I have to tie the washing machine drain into the old toilet drain pipe?  Also, will I need to vent either drains or both?  Plus, is 44" high enough for the washing machine drain?  These are in an old house (~100 years old) and the extra bathroom was installed sometime in the early 1990's prior to our purchase. Thanks in advance for your help, comments and suggestions!

    Hi Iscagle

The easiest solution here would be to install the utility sink drain to the old sink drain and just drain the washing machine into the utility sink...won't have to mess with venting at all as long as the old sink was properly vented.

How was the old toilet vented? There should be a 2" vent nearby.
