    High definition TV question
    Does anyone know what causes the black line at the top and bottom of the screen picture on a brand new H/D LG LED TV Set 39 inch.
    Cable man installed new H/D cable box, but some channels come in this way.
    Cable Co. advised press a certain button on remote to fix.
    That only fixes it for some channels.
    Movies from the 1940s coming in are OK. Full Screen, but NOT the movies from the 50s.
    Some News stations are cut off like this too.
    Please advise.

    First, this has nothing to do with Windows the computer operating system. So your thread has been moved to an appropriate forum.

    Basically, new TVs are designed for a 16:9 ratio of width to height. If the program was not filmed for that same ratio (and most were not), then the broadcaster has a choice of trying to fit the programming to the screen. If they try to maintain the original ratio, then they may have black borders on your TV screen
