    Washing machine agitator problem
I have an older-model "Roper by Kenmore" top-loading washing machine, bought used, a few years ago.

It works fine! Washes, spins, drains, etc.

But the agitator has developed a problem and I can't figure out how to find out what's gone wrong--let alone how to fix it.

The bottom half of the agitator works just fine. But the top half appears to be stripped or?? Inside: I can literally spin it around like a top, over and over, in either direction.

I can't figure out how the agitator comes apart, so I can't figure out whether it's fixable!

    Help?
    Thanks!
