We have an old well water pump that has a pressure regulator. The regulator is shaped like a bell. I had to look at pictures of pumps to know what to call this part. Everything works fine. According to our pressure gauge the maximum pressure is set for 62. On the side of the regulator there is a tiny hole (my brother calls a "weep hole". Anyway, for the first time ever there is water dripping out of this hole. There is just a very small drip, but we have never had a drip before, so we are trying to figure out if this is a problem that requires any action on our part.

Can you post a picture of this regulator. Although your description sounds like a pressure regulator valve, it would be unusual to find a pressure regulator on a well system. The pressure on a well system is controlled by the pump pressure switch, making a pressure regulating valve unnecessary.

If there is water dripping from that small pin hole that means there is a bad seal on the inside of the regulator or ruptured diaphragm. You can either rebuild it with new replacement parts of replace the entire pressure regulator.
