Trane ex 1000
Inside unit working outside is not,replaced thermostat twice, once in summer neighbor installed new because thermostat was bad, had ac all summer ,got cold switched to heat and it did not come on, so just replaced again and outside unit has not come on,what could I check or replace cheaply?

Please explain why the outside unit will not stop running when unit is turned off from inside?
I came home and the unit did not run. I checked the furnace and it showed that I needed to replace the thermostat. Now that that is done, it says that the heat is fine but to call for service. Is it freon? How do I know where to troubleshoot?
