    Threatened By Debt collector
Back in 99 I had a Sunoco credit card I filed bankruptcy in Feb 01. Some how this credit card wasn't included in the Bankruptcy case. The debt was sold to Asset Acceptance corp.
I've been harassed by this company for a year now I explained about the bankruptcy case and they told me they would send some paper work and I should fill out my information attorney name etc. I never received such paper work.Last night this company call me at dinner time and I started to explain my story and the man on the phone called me a lire so I got into a heated argument and I ended up telling him not to call my house again. This person representing a billion dollar company started to repeat my address over and over then told me I would be getting a visit very soon and if I every heard of the Mexican mafia. He then went on to say if I value my family's life I better smarten up. I can't believe my life and family's life was being threatened by a company at all let alone over a 1100 dollar debt that's 8 years old. I wish I could have recorded this conversation but I did'nt. My wife is pregnant and she is afraid now. Do I have any recourse?

Ok, don't be scared, they make threats, to call the police and have you arressted, make threats to take you house and more. This is what theydo to collect money. They get paid on a commission.

They don't do any of that, except to scare you,

If you filed bankruptcy and they are calling you, they are breaking the law, you need to send them a copy of the bankruptcy filing. Next report this to your attorney if they keep this up, contempt charges can be filed in court if they continue to do so. Just give them your attorneys name and phone number and tell them to contact him if they call back

Also, report them to the FTC, they may pursue this company for breaking debt collection laws. It's illegal even to threaten to sue you if they have no intention of doing so, they may be very interested in them threatening your life.
