    Installed a new mixer stem
I installed a new Mixet Stem with Teflon Head (4 1/2")
All is working properly, however the Stem retainer nut is slightly shorter than the old one, so when I attach the escutcheon, the screw misses the retainer nut. I have to keep the escutcheon away from the wall to get the screw to catch the retainer nut. Now the water can get into the wall. Is something connected improperly, or is there a plate or large washer I can put behind the escutcheon so that I don't have the large gap between it and the wall?
