    Plea hearing
    Hi
I have been charged with an offence. I have to attend magistrates court on the 29th of this month.
The charges are: robbery and driving without insurance.
Am u right in assuming this will be a plea hearing? I am not sure as I have never been to court or arrested even
Any help will be much appreciated

Have you hired a lawyer yet? If not why.

Robbery can carry a prison sentence... odd there wasn't an arrest associated with that.

No, this will not be a plea hearing, unless you have already arranged a plea agreement.
If you already had a first appearance, had the charges officially read ? Have you had a bail hearing to set bail ?

Is the state filing any motions ?

Without knowing what has already happened, what hearings you may have waived, it is all a guess

Basically I was arrested approximately two months ago
I was held in a cell, questioned then realised on bail and asked to return to the police station a month later.
I attended the station where I was told I have been charged and bailed. Read my rights, signed done paperwork and given a date to appear at a magistrates court on the 29th
I'm a little confused and distressed as to what happens now
I'm unemployed and cannot afford a lawyer
Any help will be grately appreciated

No plea [ 2 Answers ]

I will not take a plea because I did nothing. They (the Cops) said I touched a ladies butt on a crowded train. Arrested me and the who none yards. So if there is trial there will have to be one because I'm not losing my life and career for some crap like that.
