My boyfriend is going to college
Hi- I'm 19, my boyfriend is 20. Here's my story! We've been dating for two years. We were long time friends before we started dating our senior year. Then he went to a camp for the entire summer- then went to a post grad boarding school 4 hours away.. We stayed strong the entire time. This summer he was home and now he's going to college. He's not a huge partier- that would probably fit me better descriptively. But his school is literally 5 minutes down the road from me. But he's playing sports so our time will probably be limited. My problem is he's living in a co Ed dorm... I trust him but something in my gut turns just thinking about the fact of barely dressed girls running around. Just the fact of not knowing these people makes me feel so uneasy. BLAH! I plan on talking to him tonight (he moves in tomorrow). I'm not really sure what to say because I don't want to come off psycho (because that's kind of how I feel) UGH I guess what I'm asking is what do I say to him/do I have stuff to worry about/ just all around what should I do. I'm scared.

Is it girls-only floors/boys-only floors? Most of my son's college dorms were that way (not mixed on the same floor), and he never saw half-dressed females. Actually both men and women were more careful than you would think they would be. He said another dorm had a mixed population on each floor and there was no flashing or sex stuff or messing around. It was like living with your siblings.

Aside from the dorm arrangements, you do have to accept the fact that college throws all sorts of datable people in front of you, and many relationships come and go. Much as your fears are understandable, you must stifle them, or you are forcing the very results you fear. Joke about it or mention it once, but don't b**ch about it! There's absolutely no point in extracting promises from someone.

You have a great opportunity to see how stressors affect the relationship. He'll be busy with sports and you should keep busy with your life. If you are in an exclusive relationship, you should expect him to act accordingly. If you're not, then you can't pass judgement on him. If you nag and express worry every time you speak, your relationship won't last long.
