Blue stuff blocking toilet!
Hi! I live in an apartment and my toilet is repeatedly clogging the last couple of weeks. The super has fired pressurized air into it a few times now and that fixes it, but each time it clogs again in a day or two.

I know the problem is from a blue cleaning puck that I put in the tank a long time ago because when the toilet is working the water is almost clear, and when it's clogged it's dark blue. I can tell it's about to clog by the color!

My toilet is connected to the neighboring apartment's toilet, and the other day theirs clogged too. They said the water was blue in their toilet!

Do you think the blue stuff has gotten stuck in the pipe between our toilets? Do you think it will eventually go away or will we have to pull the toilet out to get to it and get rid of it? Help! That blue cleaning thing is a nightmare!

Thank you for your quick reply! I will buy an auger as you suggested just as soon as possible (the blue thing has fully dissolved so I can't take it out. It left a hard residue in the tank though. I imagine I can clean that out with scrubbing).

A follow up - I would like to clean the toilet bowl as there are stains in it that can't be removed with fantastic or white gel-type cleaner. I'm wondering if I can safely use CLR or bleach to clean it off or will there be a chemical reaction with the blue stuff?

You still Have the blue stuff in your toilet bowl? Is the blue stuff the stain? You may use CLR but I think Comet would be better. Did the blue stuff clog the rim holes in the bowl? Back to you, Tom

Yes the water is still blue even though the tablet it gone. Sometimes it's more dark blue than other times. Also, the neighboring apartment has gotten blue water in their toilet but they've never used one of those things (it must be from mine?). On the first flush after it clogs (ie. When the water doesn't go down) the water is much more blue than usual.

The rim holes seem fine and shoot out water pretty well, so that's good. I haven't yet been able to buy an auger though, maybe that will solve the problem.
