Sears garden tractor--no spark at spark plug
Hi.. . 2-cylinder Sears garden tractor, no spark at either plug. Seems to be no volts coming to the ignition module.. . I think there should be but not sure exactly. Wiring would appear to be in good shape, without pulling the harness.

1 - should I have volts going to the ignition module?
2 - next logical step be to replace the ignition switch?

    Thanks much

No. Assuming by ignition module you mean the magneto. Magneto is a stand alone component that generates the spark. If you have confirmed that you have no spark to plugs, disconnect the kill wire from the magneto (small wire). Rig up temporary connection of a small piece of wire to magneto kill wire terminal. That will be so you can stop engine if it starts.

If engine starts, touch temporary wire to frame to stop engine.

No, only connection between switch and magneto should be kill wire. Magneto generates spark unless defective or kill wire grounded. You have eliminated possibility of kill wire being grounded so magneto must be defective if engine does not start because of no spark.

    Hi,
If it is a Briggs opposed twin, then the cylinders share one ignition module. Only a few engines use battery energized coils and sears does not use them.
    Peace,
