    Auto Fraud?
My fiancé and I Bought a Car for about 11,000... The Guy we bought it from said he had to pay of the loan to get the title. So he gave us a bill of sale, a copy of his drivers license, and 2 different phone numbers to contact him and he would take the money we gave him to pay the loan off and then when the bank sent him the title then he would deliver it to us himself with the extra key. It has been almost 2 months and he hasn't contacted us at all and we haven't been able to contact him. We found out that he quit both of his jobs and the mailing address he gave us to reach him was the address to his old job. Also we went to the DMV and they said there was still a Lien on the vehicle and right now we have a vehicle that we cannot get registered or own ourselves until the lien was removed.

    What should we do?

FIRST... go to your local State Police Barracks and let them know all of this... and make a complaint. At least one crime has been committed.

This is why I would never buy a car from an individual unless they had a clear title in hand to sign over at the time the money exchanges hands.

Never trust anyone with that kind of money especially if you weren't getting the title the same day. Always do background checks and make sure there is insurance and warranties as well. In the future always check with the DMV before making a final purchase because they have the final say. I would have sped to the cops after a week or 2. People do under handed stuff all the time. I'd call the news chanel on him give his name in all. Warn the public about his scam quick before get get other victims.

Really? You think the media is going to be interested is one cam like this?

I agree with the rest of the advice, primarily to report it to the police immediately. But going to the media with this is a waste of time.

To Jim, Even though you have a bill of sale, the only way you will get clear title is to pay off the loan that the lien is for. So you may wind up paying double for this car.

If the loan is not paid, the lienholder could repossess the car.

And who is going to do this background check? And if you "call the news channel on him" make sure you have an Attorney on retainer - you are going to need one.
