    Can she get pregnant?
My girlfriend and I were naked on bed on May 6th. I didn't feel anything like an ejaculation. But just because I am paranoid, I went to bathroom to check it. The tip of my penis was dry and nothing was on there but when I squeezed my penis, I saw a small drop coming out, which could be pre-.

My girlfriend had periods on 9th May and had normal period. On 22nd may she got little sick. She went to her doctor on 24th May, who diagnosed sinus infection or swelling and possible swelling of lymph nodes. Although he did inquire about her last periods and nurse asked if she ever got pregnant before.

There was no penetration and she is a virgin. Also I have urinated quite many time before last time I ejaculated before lying naked with her. I am very scared. Is there a possibility of her getting pregnant?

What are the possible steps one can take to prevent unwanted pregnancy from here on?

There was no attempt to penetrate and your penis was nowhere near her vagina?

Are you thinking the sperm jumped from your body to hers while you were lying next to each other?

    1. Don't have sex until you are ready to be a father.

    2. Wear 18 condoms.

    3. Call her on the phone from your house.

I'm thinking that after reading your question, you should maybe not be having sex anymore until you understand how it all works.

As far as preventing unwanted pregnancies... stop playing adult games that you don't understand.

I cannot possibly top the previous responses.

How sad that someone who so clearly does not understand sex and pregnancy (including not being able to tell if he, in fact, ejaculated, and somehow believing that urinating prior to sex is some type of birth control) is engaging in such risky behavior.

    Hello there,

The fact that you have to ask how to avoid pregnancy shows me that you may not have even had a high school level sex ed class yet; this raises the question of how old you are. Condoms (male and female) , diaphragms, Chemical birth control, vaginal rings, hormonal medications, and many more are forms of contraception (ways of avoiding pregnancy). In your case though, as rude as it may sound, just avoid sex because I don't think you fully understand what the action of sexual intercourse is, or contraception for that matter. If you did not ejaculate, and made no attempts at penetration then chances are she will not be pregnant. Sperm does not follow a transitive property; just because your testicles are attached to your epididymus which is attached to your vas deferens which leads out of your urethra contacting the bed below you which she is on as well does not mean that because she is making contact with the bed your penis is touching that her eggs are exposed to your sperm... Go to your local community college or high school or clinic and take a sex ed course. Goodluck with your learning.

My suspicion is that this post is from India and there is no sex ed. Time will tell.

My college major was English and I hate to admit I don't understand this but I don't. I have never seen transitive used in this fashion. " Sperm does not follow a transitive property ..." What do you mean?

I agree - the OP either doesn't speak English as a first language or is not well educated. Either way, I doubt he can figure your post out either. It sounds more like a college essay than advice to someone with a poor command of English.

In the meantime OP needs to go on line (he obviously has computer access) and look up sex and pregnancy - and his girlfriend also needs to have the same clear understanding about how pregnancy happens.

    JudyKayTee,

I apologize for the abstruse nature of that example. In the way that I had given the example I used what is more of a culturally adapted (to high school and college aged individuals) saying where if person A were to kiss person B and then that individual were to kiss another (person C) than that new individual will have made oral contact with Person A. It basically explains that through a series of indirect interactions between objects linking those in question two objects may make direct contact. It was a rather poor example in retrospect but I was essentially trying to cement in the fact that just because he was naked next to her does not mean that sperm will enter her without cause. Sorry for the poor example.

I'm guessing he means that sperm do not transport themselves (i.e. my term "jump") from one body to another if the two bodies are lying next to each other and the two bodies' sex organs are not connected.

Hi WG - I "got" the meaning. I just couldn't decide if it's awkward, incorrect, or if I was absent from school that day.

    Sorry to hijack.

    I'm going to be blunt.

You stated that you were both lying naked on the bed together. Side by side, back to back, front to front, lying on top of her? Not enough info.

The penis doesn't have to go into the vagina to cause pregnancy, but simply lying beside each other on the bed, naked, will not get her pregnant, unless you have superhuman sperm that performs acrobatic feats.

You really need to educate yourself on how pregnancy works before you continue playing these naked games.

So obviously I was not just lying. We were doing stuff. But not intercourse. My penis was near her thighs. THE MAIN THING IS THAT SHE HAD HER PERIOD 3 DAYS AFTER THIS INCIDENT AND SHE TOLD ME SHE HAD NORMAL PERIOD. Now she is feeling sick and the only reason I am worried is because her doctor asked " if she had something weird in her periods" and her answer was no. I know am being stupid, but I am just worried if she is pregnant by any chance. Should she take a blood test for pregnancy as its more accurate or just a normal pregnancy test and when should she take it?

Unlikely that she's pregnant. But, if you were messing around, not just lying on the bed together naked, which is what you originally stated, and your penis was near her vagina, pregnancy is possible. Likely? No. Possible? Yes. But you'd have a better chance winning the lottery or getting hit by a bolt of lightening. Still, it happens, people win the lottery every day.

She had a normal period, so it's not likely that she's pregnant. But, we can't diagnose online.

The best time to take a pregnancy test is 2 weeks after a missed period. So, you should wait until her next period. If she misses it, test using first morning urine with an at home pregnancy test, or get a blood test done.

    Hello JW,

Well you would have to wait until after the first missed period to take a urine test. Until sometime after that initial missed period the hormone levels signifying pregnancy will not be at a high enough concentration to create a positive test. Also does she have any reason to lie to you about her periods? Trust her, and if a time comes when a period is missed than buy a test then. Until then tests will likely be null.

So getting a pregnancy test done now or in two three days, even if it's a blood test is useless? I should wait if she misses a period? And thanks a lot appreciate your help

She won't lie to me. So not even a blood test will be useful if she doesn't misses a period?

The first sign of pregnancy is a missed period. Although some women do bleed throughout pregnancy, it's not a period. Periods stop during pregnancy. She had a period 3 days after your naked no sex session. That would indicate that she's not pregnant. Unlikely that she was ovulating at that time anyway. But, it's not impossible. Heck, women can ovulate and get pregnant during their period.

You can have a blood test done, but you asked it if would be useful. If she doesn't miss a period, which she hasn't, then why would you get a blood test done? It makes no sense.

Really, the chances of her getting pregnant from what you two did, is almost obsolete. She had a period after you two did what you did.

I don't usually say this, because we can't diagnose online, but I'm going to go out on a limb. She's not pregnant. I'd be shocked if you came back and said she was based on what you told us here.

If you want to spend your money on a blood test, go for it, but I'd wait until her next period. If she gets it, spend the money on something else, like condoms.

Blood Tests will have to be done in an actual lab though, so keep that in mind. Also they are more expensive and will need time to be sent away and tested. I'd say it would be a waste of money considering she never even missed a period. Plus in your circumstances it seems highly unlikely.

And who is going to order the blood test?

Now that this problem has been solved until she gets (or doesn't get) her next period what are your birth control plans?

You won't be the first person posting here who has started with "She wouldn't lie to me and so -" You also won't be the last.

And please don't use caps - it's the same as screaming.

Did anyone ask how old the two of you are? You don't know if you ejaculated and she doesn't understand what the nurse (who examined her throat, from what I'm reading). Makes me think you are young.

jwright07, the only way to get a woman pregnant besides having sex is if you had ejaculation or pre-ejaculation on your fingers and you used your fingers to penetrate her. Is that what you did?

The fact that she had a normal period 3 days later pretty much proves she's not pregnant. If she only had a little spotting or a lighter period then there's a very small chance. But she said it was a normal period, so I don't know why you're worried.

If you want to be extra safe then use a condom during foreplay. Condoms can be used during any kind of sexual activity, not just sex.
