John deere lx172 gas to carburetor
I have a LX 172 that was in storage for several years. I am trying to breath new life into it. I have replaced the fuel pump, cleaned the carb inside and out, put fresh gas in the tank. I am getting fuel to the carburator bowl, but it will not lift the fuel out of the bowl into the main portion of the carb. I have run the engine on full choke by putting gasoline into the carb, but it will not pick up the gasoline and run on its own. Getting frustrated.

    Hi,
Think the plunger in the fuel shutoff solenoid is probably gummed closed. Get some spray carb cleaner and clean it with the solenoid removed from carb. It will take multiple sprayings and manually working the plunger.
    Peace,
