I am a strong advocate of crate training. See the ''What does a puppy need? Section of the sticky, https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/dogs/i...tml#post251802

No leaving food or water will defeat extending the time the dog can go without relieving itself.

A 7 week old puppy needs very little to introduce it to a crate. If you need help with an older dog, post back.
