    Tuition vs. charitable giving
I currently give about $6,000 to charity yearly. I am returning to college and would like to commit that money to tuition while I finish school. Is the tax impact the same? I will be pursuing a graduate degree in NYS.

I would need to know a LOT more about your situation, like how much you earn, your marital status, whether you own a home on which you are paying a mortgage, etc. before I could even begin to tell you how the loss of a $6,000 charity donation would affect your tax situation.

The donor obviously wants to take $5,000 for tax purposes in each of the two years. While I could set it up this way on the church...

This one may be splitting hairs but I thought I would ask. I know you can't contribute your time and take a charitable deduction. But lets say your time involves producing a tangible product. For example, lets say you are a software developer. You develop an application that you deem worth...

I have a Gospel Music Band. I have not applied for non-profit status although the real income is much less the $10,000 a year. An individual has expressed a desire to donate a Bus for us to travel in, however, they would like to write it off as a donation to this ministry. Is this possible?
