Possible problem following leg bypass surgery
My 65 year-old sister had leg bypass about 2 1/2 weeks ago. She spent a week in the hospital followed by rehab. She came home today and is expecting a home health care nurse tomorrow. In the meantime the I
Ncision site is red but her leg does not appear swollen today. It had been. She saw the surgeon Thurs. but he decided to postpone taking out the staples. She now says her leg feels heavy like a brick and is getting anxious. Should I take her to the ER? I put in a call to the home health care agency but have not received an answer back and it has been more than a half hour.

When in doubt, go to the ER. They would much rather see you for nothing but to ease your mind than to have you not go when you need to.

In her gut, she knows it's not right so go now.

Neither of you are qualified to make the decision - a doctor needs to see her now and make the call on whether she needs medical assistance.
